"This is the police! We have you surrounded! Drop your weapon and step out of the school with your hands up!"
Me and Tiffany walk up behind Asher just as the police attempt to communicate with him from outside. Tiffany makes a gagging sound behind me as we step over a dead body: Kaitlyn Mulburrow.. She was considered a really popular girl at our school. She was the typical blonde hair and blue eyed cheerleader. She was pretty but mean. She used to date Gregg but they broke up at the beginning of the school year.
I look down the hall and see the fourth body: Brandon Seawoll.. He was Ryan's cousin. He wasn't as popular as Ryan but a lot of people at school liked him. He was on the football team. Ask any girl at our school and they would describe Brandon as tall, dark, and handsome. He kinda looked like a younger modern version of Clark Gable.
"You think it's too late for me, bro?" Asher's voice brings me back to attention. He must have heard us come up behind him. He has tears in his eyes. He looks.... scared.
"I can't lie, you'll be doin alot of time Ash.... But.. it's not too late to save yourself bro," I choke on that last part and more tears fall from Asher's eyes. Tiffany squeezes my hand, signaling that we don't have alot of time left. "Put the gun down Asher, put your hands up, and go out there man... We'll be behind you," I say and Tiffany nods her head in agreement with me. He looks from me to Tiffany. I notice that his hands are shaking.
"You've always been behind me, Kev... I love you bro.." Asher says and he gives me a hard hug. Tiffany moves back, probably scared that the gun will accidentally go off.
"Love you too.. Now go," I tell him. He puts his guns down and starts walking toward the main entrance door that leads out to the parking lot.
Tiffany looks at me with relief in her eyes and sighs. She lowers her voice so Asher can't hear her. "I think you just saved some people's lives, Kev.. I have a feeling he wasn't done," she says but just as she finishes that sentence, I turn my head and see Asher reach into his back pocket and pull out a small hand gun that I hadn't noticed before..
Noooo! I let go of Tiffany's hand and run up behind Asher to try and grab the gun from him... We both struggle for a second until the gun goes off....
