I woke up and walked downstairs for breakfast. My small townhouse was anything but impressive. Just two bedrooms and one bathroom. Along with a kitchen and a living room. I had lived in the old house my entire life, so I knew the whole thing from top to bottom. I sat at the counter and saw my mom making some quick pancakes. Dad was still getting ready for work, he also took me to school since my high school was on his way to work.
Mom set a plate of pancakes in front of me. "Eat up." Mom said. I eat the delicious pancakes and pack up. Dad finally came out of his bedroom and gets his coat on. We head out the door and Dad drove me to school.
At school, Sam was waiting for me outside in the freezing cold. I got out of the car and walked up to Samson. Dad drove off and Sam said to me, "Sorry I couldn't meet you after school on Friday; football practice." I nodded, understanding how busy he must've been. I mean, I related with ice skating practice.
"I understand, I feel the same way." I replied. Sam smiled at me.
"What would I ever do without you, Gwen?"
"Nothing, because you absolutely worship me." I smirked. Sam chuckled at the joke, before retorting,
"You think I worship you? I thought you worshipped me."
"C'mon, meat head, let's go inside. Before your meat head becomes a popsicle." We walked inside of the school.
The school classrooms were freezing! I wondered if they even had heat in the school. After school I walked to my locker along with Sam. "Gwen, do you want to go out on Saturday? Maybe to a movie?" Samson asked. He shouldn't be nervous at all, since we've been dating for two years. But for some reason he was. Maybe because he couldn't stay with me after school on Friday.
"Sure, what movie?" I asked.
"I'll text you." At that moment his name was called from one of his jock buddies, signaling that practice was starting. "See you tomorrow." Sam said and kissed me goodbye. He left me standing there in the hallway all alone.
I packed up my books and slung my backpack over my shoulder, but I'm stopped by Rhyan. Rhyan was my friend since fifth grade. She had transferred from a rich private school to our small middle school. She got picked on and called names like "Stick up" or "Prissy". She hated all of them, and she wasn't any of those cruel names. I noticed how no one was friends with her, so I decided to go over and talk to her. We had been friends ever since.
Rhyan sighed and waved to me. "What's wrong?" I asked her.
"Danny broke up with me last night, I thought we had it so well too." Rhyan sighed once more.
"What?" I exclaimed, "How could he ever break up with an intelligent and beautiful girl like yourself? Hey, if you ever need someone to go punch his face in, I'm your girl." I began for the school doors. Rhyan was now following after me and giggled.
"I'll be sure to keep that in mind." Rhyan groaned, "I hate boyfriends."
"Yeah, they're a pain."
"But isn't Sam the best dude ever?" She eyed me confused.
"Um, he's far from it. But I just look past his flaws and see who he really is."
"I-I think I'm going to take a break from a reationship for a while." Rhyan stated bluntly. I nodded, understanding where she was coming from. She wiped her eyes. "Thanks Gwen, you really are a great friend." Rhyan smiled through the tears, heading out of the school doors. I heard a bump then a shuffling sound that came from behind me. I looked back at the hallway. No one in sight. I looked away and left the high school.
