I hadn't realized I had been down here almost all night, in an imaginary ghostly sleep. Until I heard Violet outside of the crawl space crying.

"Tate are you in there? Tate?" She cried.

"Violet what's wrong?"  I opened the hidden hatch quickly and pulled her into my arms."

"I thought the box took you away too. I thought you left me here. I was-" she stopped herself mid-sentence and kissed my cheek. My fearless Violet was scared. "Happy birthday."

I looked at her, dumbfounded, maybe even a bit choked up. No-one has said that to me in the fifteen years that I've been dead. Not even my own cocksucker mother.

"Taylor wants to talk to you, about celebrating." She stood and dusted off her floral dress and thick leggings. I couldn't help but stare. I haven't seen her wear a dress in awhile, and God damn she is stunning.

She helped me off the ground, and waited while I got ready. I slid back into my crawlspace and pulled out my green stripped shirt and dark was jeans. I stood for a second til I heard the crawlspace door open.

"Hurry up." Violet stuck her head in, seeing me completely bare. Her jaw dropped. "Uh."

I turned away and pulled on my jeans and long sleeve tee. I couldn't help but have a shit eating grin on my face as I came back out. She was a shade of red I've never seen before.

Upstairs, at the table in the kitchen, Violet was glowing red still. Taylor was getting Caroline out of bed.

"Vi." I looked at her. "Was it really that embarrassing."

        "Yes."

"Why" I gave her a cocky smile. "Did you like what you saw?"

She looked down, fighting back a small smile.

"Hey guys " Caroline trotted in wearing a tutu blue jeans and a bathing suit. "I'm a princess."

"Right you are child, go eat your breakfast." Taylor followed behind her. "You guys ready to party?"

"What." I didn't really ask. It was more of a what the fuck statement.

"Were having a birthday party tonight. Violet and I talked a bit, we decided that we'd have us a birthday. Considering that we've never done it before being twins." She beamed, putting her hands on the edge of the table.

"Vi," I knew this was a test. She gave me a look, I couldn't quite comprehend. I sighed, "okay."

"I'm going to drop Caroline off at her grandparents house so she can see her dad after breakfast." Taylor put a shawl over her shoulders and grabbed her car keys. "Then we'll get set up."

I nodded and stood up from my place next to Violet. "I'm going to go see Beau." I walked to the attic. The moment I hit the top step a little red ball came rolling my way.

"Hey Beau." I kicked it back to him. "Do you think she's really our sister?"

"Ahhh" he grunted at me, as if to say yes, rolling the ball back as I sat down on the floor.

"Yeah, I know. It's a stupid question." Anger swelled inside. "You know Constance is a cock sucking bitch right? You know her boyfriend killed you."

Beau grunted angrily at me. I knew he loved his mom. No matter how much I hated her. I stood, deciding Beau wasn't the best to talk to. I hate making him upset.

I vacated to my bedroom. I've been letting Violet use it, because, well, it's hers too. I layed down and closed my eyes, taking deep breaths to calm the shaking in my hands. Today is my birthday, there will be people here I assume.

"Hey, where to all the mean ones hide." Taylor poked her head in.

     "The basement. Why?"

"So I can keep them in check while we have our party." Taylor said it like it was easy.

She trotted down the stairs and I heard soft mumbling. Probably Violet chatting with Taylor. I walked down to the back hallway to the my sister and my love. Taylor was on her hands and knees dumping a red dust in front of the basement stairs.

     "What's that?" I asked.

"A barrier. Try and walk over it. I've never tested it."

I did as she asked and went to step onto the stairs, and was practically whacked in the face by an invisible barrier. Great. Now I can't escape from the party.
