Before the group knew it, the bar started last call around 3:00 am. Most of the cast that had joined them had tapered off through the night, even Cecily called it quits an hour prior. However, once you got Jennifer and Jolene going, it was hard for them to stop. The remaining members of the party either stayed for their last drink or began to swap hugs and call for lyfts/ubers. They were all very inebriated, but the dancing had sobered the best friends up enough to make coherent decisions. Jolene more than Jennifer though. Jennifer let out an obnoxious groan while running her tan fingers through her wavy, ebony, locks.
"Why do bars close so early?" She whined before leaning her head on Jolene's shoulder, "They should just like- keep it going and start serving bloody marys or mimosas!" She slammed her fist down on the table they had retired to before sitting up to finish her glass of water.
"I can always make you brunch," Colson wiggled his brows playfully at Jennifer. The two had been attached to each other in aggressive flirting and dancing practically all night.
"I hope you're a better cook than you are a rapper," She smirked and winked back at him. The others at the table all let out an 'Ooooo!' at her drunken slam.
"Wanna find out?" He felt himself start to smile wide at her, but immediately covered his face to hide it.
"Alright, I am officially out!" Michael pushed himself up to his feet and gave Pete a pat on the back. "Good show tonight man. We should do this more often." Everyone bid him goodbye and then four remained.
"Fuck that!" Jennifer shook her head before pushing herself up, bracing her heeled balance on the table in front of her. "I say we go back to the air b&b and keep going!"
She didn't even bother to look at anyone else at the table before she pulled out her phone and started to request a ride share. Jolene's hazel eyes scattered across the two men's expressions who looked down and drunk enough to think it sounded like a solid plan. "Hell yeah! We've got some green we can wind down with," Colson added, elbowing his friend lightly.
"To the B&B!" Jolene shouted, raising her hand in the air as if she was leading a platoon.
Everyone followed in suite, mimicking her triumphant declaration and the four drunkenly stumbled to the escalade waiting outside for them. Whoever that driver was had to have received a solid tip that night after he passed the aux cord back to Jennifer. She of course played a Clash song and then Poison's Don't Need Nothing But a Good Time, both of which all four of them sang along loudly with. It was only about a ten minute drive since the traffic was essentially non-existent at that time of night, at least compared to working hours. The group thanked the driver before attempting to walk in straight lines back to the small house they had rented out for the trip. When they successfully made it, the girls immediately ripped off their shoes and threw them across the entry way. Purses flung in random directions shortly there after.
Even though all four of them were drunk, they still managed to pull their weight as they prepared for the second wind of their night out. Colson and Pete began eagerly rolling blunts while Jennifer grabbed beers for everyone. Jolene was doing what she usually did at any party, try to hook up a bluetooth speaker and pop music on. She searched through her spotify playlists until she landed on one with a wide range of 90's rap and hip-hop, punk music, and early 2000's pop tunes. As soon as the speaker connected to her phone, the group carried on with the party out onto the patio. The blunt lit up fast and hard as Pete took the first puff.
"So, are you still slumming it with he-who-shall-not-be-named?" Jennifer asked point blank, taking a quick swig of beer.
"Who? Ger-"
"Shhhh!" Jennifer put her finger to her pouty lips, "We don't speak of douchebags in this house."
Jolene rolled her eyes, knowing that she was referring to her ex. It was a big reason why her and Colson stopped hanging out. "It's fine, really."
"No!" Jennifer stopped her friend from blowing it off, "You have to have a damn good reason to still talk to that moron after what he did to Jo."
"Look, we fell out not too long ago. That guy is desperate, I don't associate with him really," Colson tried to defend himself while also taking their side.
Jenn wasn't completely buying into it so she snatched the blunt from Pete and pretended to keep staring him down. "Well good . . . We don't allow that fuckery to kill our vibe anymore."
"Jesus, did he cheat on both of you?" Pete slipped out and was quick to check both of the girls reactions to ensure he hadn't said something out of turn.
"Oh fuck you!" Jo responded with a bright toothy smile, "Jenn's just always got my back." The two locked eyed and smiled at one another. "So . . . your mom's basement?" She pushed back her sun-kissed blonde hair behind her ear as she squinted at Pete.
"By choice! Might I add!" Colson interjected before Pete could respond.
"Oh come on, not totally by choice," He attempted to defend himself, but knew it was futile, "What can I say, I don't like to live alone." He shrugged, anxiously watching the blunt while he began rolling another.
"Does your mom let you have sleepovers?" Jolene asked with a giggle, genuinely amused by this fact about him.
"Fuck yeah, just not on school nights," He joked before watching Jolene carefully take a drag off the blunt and let it stew for a minute. He cleared his throat, trying not to get too wrapped up in the way her jawline cut through the smoke that left her red painted lips.
"You're cute," Jolene chuckled before exhaling the smoke from her lungs.
She felt Jennifer's eyes on her as her eyes flickered from Jo, to Pete, and finally to Colson. "Oh fuck I love this song!" The dark haired actress exclaimed as she hopped up to her feet, snatching the blunt away from Jolene before she could pass it back to Pete. "Come on Kells, show me more of those Netflix money moves!" She giggled as she heard Colson scramble to his feet to follow her.
The two watched the flirtatious duo make their way closer to where the pool was before slowly looking back to one another. Pete managed to rip his own foggy brown hues away from the singer in front of him and light the second blunt. "She did that on purpose," His voice was a lower tone due to holding his smoke, "Didn't she?" He asked before he slowly exhaled.
Jolene squinted before falling back in her over-sized lawn chair, "Who says she decided to leave?"
The bleached blonde comedian was in the middle of his second hit before he smirked at her, "Oh you made her do that?" He asked, trying not to laugh, "Are you guys telepathic or some shit?"
She nodded quickly, trying to look deadly serious. "Maybe," She flashed her brows up and down before leaning forward to grab the blunt from him, "Or maybe she just knows when to let people make moves."
