Olivia
“You’re joking right?” she could not believe the words she heard.
“Olivia, I’m sorry. It has to happen; I have no way to stop it. I’ve told you this.” His hands reached for her slender arm, trying to soothe her. It was too sudden, he knew that. He knew, but he couldn’t do anything to stop it.
She sighs rather slowly and shuts her eyes.
“When will you be back?” she looks at him. Expecting something better leaving his mouth.
He gives her arm a slight squeeze.
“I hope I’ll be back soon”
Her parents had left, she finally released her face from smiling. She huffed and relaxed. Laying her back on the leather couch. Silence filled the room although not an eerie type, it gets quiet on normal days. No not the strange kind, just the kind that gives that home alone vibe. Mostly before you do something crazy.
Her phone buzzed.
She looked at the device beside her showing a message notification from Nico.
Nico?
She walked towards the little mirror in the quite large room, checked her reflection and opened the entrance door.
“Umm, hey?” she was at sea as to why he suddenly showed up at her door. Not that it was a bad thing, she knew a time would come that he’d be sneaking in and out of her window every now and then but not this early.
“Hey” he wore a smile, but his eyes showed differently. She noticed this.
“What’s up?”
“Let’s have a walk” he offered
“Okay? You don’t prefer coming in?”
“No, I’d rather just walk”
“Just wait a minute.” She quickly got the keys from a table inside and locked the door while coming out.
“Shall we then?” she said trying to ease up the tense mood.
He expressed a slight smile, aware of what she was trying to do. They started the stroll, passing through the few buildings in an uncomfortable silence, at least uncomfortable for Olivia. She needed to know what was in his mind that made him appear at her door step only to offer for a walk.
She was about to break the silence when he spoke.
“I may need to leave the country”
“Why?” her brows furrowed. Though sounding as calm as she could, she was not. “And I’m just hearing this now?”
“The reason why I suddenly appeared at your door.”
She scoffed. She was wounded, it shocked her that she could be easily wounded by him.
“It’s this project I have to take care of and I’ve been prolonging my stay here for a sometime, but it looks like I can’t anymore. I may be gone for a while.” He was aware she wouldn’t take it lightly. Heck, he didn’t even know why he was this settled. He thought he’d be here longer.
