(Kiara's P.O.V.) The first day of school is always boring. It's just teachers doing ice breakers and going over what we'll be learning throughout the year. But in my case, seniors don't do ice breakers, and if you're new then you're a target.
"We have a new student in Everest High this year. Kiara Patterson, would you like to introduce yourself?" I force myself to snap outta my daze because even though she asked, I knew I didn't have a choice. So I stood up and spoke, not even knowing what I'm about to say.
"Well, obviously my name is Kiara. My friends call me K.P.—" Only friend I have is Jasmine so she's the only one allowed to call me that. Aside from my mother but... "I play basketball, make songs, and I move from place to place a hell of a lot." The teacher gives a look like she wants me to keep going. "Um.. I'm not good at this but if anyone has questions I'll gladly answer." Shockingly a few hands flew up.
"Are you rich?" A skinny white girl asks. She looks like she does crack , but I laugh.
"Why you think that?" On cue my gold started feeling heavy.
"Well you have chains on, diamond studs and a Rolex. So I assumed so." Maybe she doesn't do crack, she sounds so innocent.
"No, I'm not rich. Next question?" Note to self, the Rolex stands out too much.
"Do you like girls?" A cute girl, brown skin asks. I see the teacher about to intervene but I know she was thinking it as well.
"Yes, I'm only attracted to females." Murmuring starts after that one.
"Do you label yourself?" Same girl. I like her already.
"Stem, I like to switch it up according to my mood, whatever makes me comfortable." I hear a few whispers, questioning what the label stands for and etc. I ignore them and keep my focus on the brown skin girl. Until a strong male voice speaks loudly.
"That jawn you was huggin on, that ya girl?" I turn towards him. It's a tall light skin, strong jaw. Looks like a wanna be tough guy, probably popular here.
"Wether she is or not, you don't have a chance by a long shot." I say smoothly so he gets the point, but it raises laughter in the room.
"Now Mr. Thompson that's none of your business. Especially if she's not yours to be worrying about." The teacher says. I start to get goosebumps, someone's watching me. I look around the class and come to a stop when I catch the brown skin looking at me. I turn away but I know she's still starring. I clear my throat and sit down. "Class, I just want to make this clear for the ones who may not have heard me. I am a fill in for your teacher today. She was called into a meeting last minute but will be here tomorrow. I just want to say, I hope you have a good senior year and good luck to you all." A few moans and groans are released but it's hard to tell if it's because they like her and are upset she's leaving or because we have to be here everyday for a whole year.
I turn back to the brown skin girl, who is obviously not shy because she's looking at me like she's searching for something. This time I give in, I hold contact with her and don't plan on looking away first. She smirks realizing I won't break, but I don't feel like doing this all day. So I flash a smile and wink, and she turns away blushing. I smile to myself and grab my bag from the ground. I rise from my chair at the same time the bell rings. I slip out the classroom before the girl has a chance to get to me. I don't wanna make conversation, conversation means talking, which leads to questions. And I don't feel like doing either.
"K.P. wait up!" Only one person calls me that, I turn towards Jasmin, who's coming down the hallway.
"Hey , hows classes for you so far?" I ask when she reaches me.
"Eh it's okay, all my teachers are decent. One seemed a bit.. I don't know. Off maybe?" She shrugged it off tho. "He's adorable though, teaches English. Something tells me I'll pass his class without any issues."
"Just don't flirt with him, you are well aware how illegal it is right?" Shaking my head at her mischievous laugh as we part ways.
"Something tells me you may have to take your own advice." She points behind me. I turn around and I see my teacher. "Good luck!" And she disappears into the crowd.
"Hi, you must be Kiara." She puts her hand out for a hand shake, which I take more than willingly. Jasmin was right, she's absolutely gorgeous. She's not the type that should get a handshake. I should be on my knee kissing the back of her hand. I smile at the thought and release her hand quickly before I do exactly that.
"Yes, that's me. It's very nice to meet you." I emphasize the word 'very' a little too much, but she noticed and smiles. Her cheeks grown warm and slightly blushed.
"I'm you're English teacher, my name is Miss Spring."
"Well I'm the best when it comes to English, so I'll make you proud, Miss Spring. " I flash a smile and a wink. I head in to the class and pick a seat in the center. I probably shouldn't have winked at her, that thought changes when I look up and see her blushing when she walks in. Oh shit, did I make her blush?
"Hello class, I'm Miss Spring. Please welcome your new student and I. We're both new here to Everest High. This is Kiara, who from my understanding is going to wow us this year in English." She says with a wink.
  Did she just...
"Okay class, I'm going to do attendance. I'm sorry if I say your names wrong." But something tells me that if she pronounces any name wrong, no one would care to correct her. The boys are practically drooling in their seats, even the girls start whisper about her. And that quick I lost interest. I won't be one of the kids who becomes and Ass kisser cause she's cute or makes slipping to drown into her beauty sound so welcoming. She's probably used to this reaction from students. She won't get it from me.
Time during this period flies by fast. Before I know it the bell rings. I slip out quickly again, forcing myself not to make eye contact with my teacher. As soon as I leave I hear Jasmin.
"Hey Babe!" I know she's playing but for some reason I curse her silently because I know Miss Spring is behind me outside her door and heard Jas. I don't know why I care, she's a grown woman and I'm her student at that.
"Hey, bighead." I give her a questioning look.
"This boy trailing me, keeps tryna kick up with me," she rolls her eyes. "He hasn't even spoke to me, he sends his friends over all like 'My mans wanna know if you single.'" I look behind her and see the boy she's talking about. Not even the littlest bit of surprised when I see it's the same boy who brought Jas up to me earlier.
"He asked me about you too, I told him he ain't got a chance with you."
   "He really doesn't."
"Hey shawty!" He speaks. This should be good.
"That's not my name," Jasmin rolls her eyes once again and turns to face him.
"You right, My bad. What is ya name?"
"Uninterested." She says blankly. But he doesn't get the hint.
"Oh, come on. Don't be like that." He's trying time hard. He starts slowly flexing his arms thinking no one notices he's forcing it. Flash news, it only makes Jasmin more irritated. She itches her head, ohhh he messed up.
"Be like what?  I don't know why you thought you'd ever have a shot with someone like me. You just another wanna be bad boy, who lets the popularity get to his head. And you got another damn thing coming if you think I'd give it up to an ignorant ass little boy like you. And I'm pretty sure Kiara made it clear enough to you. You shoulda listened instead of embarrassing yourself. I ain't one of these little girls who don't know their worth, so run along now."
The way she looked at him so intently, I knew she was using her mind control. But I wasn't sure what it was she was doing to him, until I noticed it. The front of his pants had a wet spot growing bigger and bigger , and a small puddle by his foot.
The crowd goes wild with laughter, fingers pointing and cameras filming. The boys face went red and he ran to the down the hall. All the students made way for him to get by, not wanting him to touch them. Jasmin turned to me and smirked. I laughed and swung my arm around her shoulders and we headed for the doors to leave the school. Ignoring the fact that Miss Springs was watching us the whole time.
When we reach our cars, I get a text.
