Yuta kept his eyes glued to the mountains as the group galloped towards them. They were originally going to take their time but with the shadow beasts hot on their trail, they had no choice but to push their horses to go as fast as they could.
"They're gaining on us." Haechan called out from his side. Yuta gritted his teeth.
We're almost there.
"Yuta hyung!" Mark called out from behind him and Yuta turned around to see shadow beasts coming straight towards them.
Dammit.
"Taeil, continue with Miyeon, we'll deal with them." Yuta instructed. Taeil nodded and went past the male while Yuta stopped his horse, pulling out his katana.
There were about thirty shadow beasts, a decent amount. Enough to make defeating them difficult but not impossible.
Yuta swung his weapon at one of the black, wispy creatures with glowing eyes. It instantly dissipated.
He stopped and got off his horse. Now's the time.
Yuta felt his inner lion spirit take over and knew that his eyes were no longer brown but glowing red. He held his now glowing weapon in his hands, knowing that he was much stronger that the shadow beasts.
Yuta continued defeating them, in his yokair form. He could tell that Mark, Haechan, and Jungwoo were doing the same, as the creatures were disappearing at a rapid rate.
"Jungwoo!" Yuta heard Haechan yell and turned to see Jungwoo get knocked off his feet by one of the beasts.
"Mark, cover for me." Yuta said to the prince. Mark nodded and swung his sword at the beasts, the blue jewel on it glistening in the sunlight.
Yuta went over to where Jungwoo was lying on the ground, a hand only his back as he used his powers to shoot energy from his other hand. Yuta could tell that he was struggling.
Yuta took the creatures from behind, shocking many of them. Before they knew it, the shadow beasts were all defeated.
"You alright?" Yuta asked as he helped the male up. Jungwoo nodded, letting out a big sigh of relief but Yuta could tell from the way he held his back and the limp he had as he walked.
"Here." Haechan said, guiding Jungwoo's horse towards them as Mark wiped the sweat beading on his forehead.
"Are you good to ride?" Yuta asked as he helped Jungwoo onto his horse.
"Yeah, the mountains aren't too far anyways." Jungwoo said, motioning to the range.
Jungwoo was right. By now, Taeil and Miyeon would have made it to the mountains.
"Let's go then." Yuta said to the others. They nodded and they began to make their way to the mountains.
...
Miyeon heard a loud commotion from outside the carriage and then Yuta's voice.
"Taeil, continue with Miyeon, we'll deal with them." She heard Yuta direct Taeil.
What's going on?
Miyeon decided to open the back panel of her carriage and saw Yuta running straight towards a large cloud of dark, smokey creatures with glowing eyes, the same creatures that she saw attacking her parents in the woods.
Miyeon trembled at the sight but Yuta was the complete opposite. Running straight towards them, his body and weapon in hand.
Yuta swung his katana and then got off his horse and onto his own feet. That's when Miyeon's eyes widened at the sight in front of her.
