I woke up a bit sore but happy. Dewey's head was on my chest and he was still asleep and, of course, snoring loudly. I looked at the alarm clock. It was four-thirty in the evening
As I caressed Dewey's feathers on the top of his head I realized the previous sores that I had from earlier that day had made way for more soreness, but this time, the only difference was that this time I welcomed it.
I closed my eyes and sighed deeply.
"Think your so clever don't you?" Marie snickered. "This doesn't change anything Webbigail. Wait until Nico comes for you. I can't wait to see the look on Dewey's face when he finds your lifeless body..."
My stomach tightened.
I wasn't going to let that happen. If Nico wanted to come for me, fine. But he wasn't going to use Dewey to do it. I wasn't going to let him.
I gently moved Dewey off me and got up and quielty put my clothes back on before heading towards the door. I heard him grunt and murmur something in his sleep making me look back at him.
"Hmmm. Maybe I can work with this." Marie said, and I felt her leaving my body once again. I tried willing her soul back into me but her will was too strong. "Nuh uh. Webby. Playing with Dewey's emotions for you is my payback for him. Nico is mine for you."
"Leave him alone!" I ordered.
Marie merely laughed and my body was empty once again, my stomach growled and I felt my teeth slowly seeping out from my gums.
No. No. No. No.
Not now.
"I can't wait to see what other souls you have once I come back." Marie called out before she went completly silent and I heard Dewey groan silightly as he began thrashing about. His adorable face scrunched up and I was so sure that Marie was giving him another nightmare.
But if I had to choose in Dewey having to put up with nightmares and saving him from myself then..
"You'll never give up on them. So, if you want to save them. You'll do it."
The man's voice echoed in my ears.
I edged slowly towards the door and quietly sliped out of his room.
I closed my eyes and leaned against his door for as long as I could hold out, my stomach growling, and I couldn't take it any longer.
I opened my eyes, and opened the side window of the garage and was about to slip out of it into the cool evening air when I heard someone behind me. I froze, with my left leg out the window. I didn't have to turn around to know who it was.
"I told you not to leave." He said.
"I, I have to. Louie." I whispered.
"No you don't. I told you I'm trying to protect you!" Louie snarled.
I whirled around and stared at him with new tears flowing down my cheeks. He stared at me wide eyed when he saw my fangs out.
"I'm trying to do the same thing!" I shouted at him.
"What about Nico?" Louie asked, standing his ground. "He's out there, Webby. He's going to kill you!" He reminded me.
"I'll figure it out." I told him. "I have to do this, Louie. I don't want too. I need too! Just, Just trust me for once on this. Okay?" I pleaded, I turned back to the window and put my other foot out. I stared down at the three story foot drop and was about to push myself off when -.
