Chapter 21

When Nico and Thea woke up the next morning, the sun was already up.

"I actually managed to sleep through the night?" Thea asked aloud.

"It appears we both did," Nico replied.

Thea smiled at Nico before getting up, "I'm going to go shower, why don't you shadow travel to your room. It'll keep you from being cornered by anyone in my family," she suggested.

"Good idea. Thanks for letting me stay Thea," Nico says, kissing the top of her head again, then shadows to his room.

Thea smiled and got her things ready for a shower. 

When she got out, she grabbed her thermos and drank a bit of itm then headed down stairs. 

"Sleep well?" her dad asked, a stern look on his face.

"Surprisingly, yes. Haven't slept that well since before I died," Thea replied, not looking at him as she headed to the kitchen.

Any anger or upsetness that Nik felt melted away in that moment, he knows they didn't do anything but sleep, so he wasn't sure why he was so upset about it in the first place. On top of that, it helped her sleep without any nightmares for the first time in a while, judging by her response.

Thea walked out of the kitchen, carrying her food, with Nico behind her, carrying his.

The two sat down and ate together. 

Niklaus saw the two and sighed, "I'm glad the two of you slept well. And I thank you for not having sex in my house," the he walked away. He understood how mates worked, he was glad his daughter found hers, since it was so rare.

The two just smiled at what Niklaus said, glad at the approval and acceptance. 

After they ate, they practically vanished for the entire day. They were setting things up for a bonfire, like they do at camp. They grabbed things to make s'mores and even some hotdogs. They also grabbed chips. They included bloodbags and waters too. They grabbed some chairs, then made their way back to the mansion.

In the backyard, they set it all up. They dug a pit for the fire, filling it up with deade twigs, branches, leaves, and pinecones.

A little after 6:30 in the evening, they lit the fire and they called everyone out.

"What's this?" Elijah asked.

"This is a bonfire. We do this at camp every Friday. However, we do it before a big battle too, and after a big battle," Thea said, grabbing Nico's hand.

Nico smiled at her, "Yeah. We have things to make smores, hotdogs, bloodbags, waters, we avoided sodas, even though that would have been awesome. The one after we defeat Uranus will have sodas, and a few more people," he added.

"So please, come have fun tonight. Plus we get to tell stories. Everyone should have something to share. Hope knows a lot of my stories, so I might let her suggest one to tell you guys. Nico has a few interesting ones too," Thea said, showing them the table the two set up with the s'more ingredients, the hotdogs, chips, and drinks.

Everyone smiled and got a stick and something to roast in the fire.

Kol and Davina shared the story of how they met, and how it blossomed into being married.

Elijah shared a story about Hope's mother, Hayley, and him. How they grew close and that they cared about each other.

Hope appologized for what happened to her again.
