"U-Ummm..."

The pencil in my hand twitched to a halt before resuming to drawing in my sketchbook. The music blaring through my earbuds had paused at just the right moment to hear small murmurs coming from behind me. I felt kinda awkward listening to their small crisis and so I moved my hand over to my phone in order to quickly pick a song.

"He's the only one left, nows my chance....he's always alone which obviously means he has no friends! Yes! Two single people spending their time in the library after school! Come on Tomoko...just ask him...I'd go with anyone at this point...!"

 What in the fuck.

It's the last day before Summer Break starts. School just ended and I didn't feel like going home yet. It's not like there was anything waiting for me anyway, my mom is probably out. So, I decided to hang out in the library and finish a drawing I was working on in my previous class. It's about 4:03 P.M, I was almost done with the piece. Everyone left except one girl. And her name is apparently Tomoko

Is she...insulting me..?

She spoke just above a whisper. No sound was competing with her quivering voice so, I can hear everything loud and clear. My finger hovered over my phone screen. I instantly paused the next song and turned off my phone, keeping my earbuds in. I continued to draw while I tuned into Tomoko's nervous breakdown.

"Maybe I should...no..How about I...hehe...perfect..!"

The chair scraping against the floor caused me to flinch a bit, I hastily recomposed myself after. I hope she didn't figure out I was listening to her. Small footsteps grew louder and soon enough I see Tomoko walk over to the shelves in front of the table. My eyes didn't leave my paper, but from the corner of my eye I was watching her awkwardly grab a book.

Should I say something?

I recognized her from art class. She never really stood out, but I remembered her from that one time I saw her doodling a shitty picture of Migi from Parasyte.

That shit made me laugh. Too bad I didn't have anyone to talk about that incident with. Not from my school anyways...

I see her disappear behind one of the shelves. By then, I was already done with my drawing but I didn't want to leave her hanging. I debated on whether or not I should introduce myself.

She called me single. AND friendless. Only one of those are true, damn what the hell's her problem?

I shut my sketchbook and take out my earbuds. I check the time,

4:11 PM

I look back over at the book shelf and was surprised to see Tomoko poking her head out. Once we locked eyes, she instantly retracted.

I guess she's shy...huh...

That prompted a certain memory to come up, but I quickly swatted that shit away. Whatever happened in middle school, stays in middle school. But,
