"Maybe we should get married."

"Yeah bye, Jane! Put some sunblock on for God sake or you'll garnish!" I yelled to my workmate, Jane, exiting the thin sheltered tennis courts.

Making my way towards the car park I pass endless buildings towering over, if you drive off far enough you might just catch a glimpse of the beautiful nature this city was once smothered in, being born and bred in New York did have it's downsides but home isn't home where there aren't the rhythmic symphony of car horns, engine fumes filling the air and apartment blocks at every corner. Clambering into my small silver Suzuki I turned on the radio to a catchy station and made my way home.

I enter my apartment of the many this building held smiling at the bits and pieces that were slightly misplaced, Jonah must be home.
"Jonah?" I placed my knock-off racquet by the door and enter the kitchen passing through our small lounge den on the way where I found Jonah's eyes glued on the screen in front of him.

"Hey." I greeted with a warm smile and his gaze averted from the screen to meet mine. His bold blue orbs scanned my body before letting out a goofy grin.

Our apartment isn't a luxury that's for sure, but it's practical and makes you feel at home.

"I didn't even hear you come in." His Australian accent was slowly fading from when he first moved here over a decade ago although you could hear traces of it every so often. His body coated mine enveloping me into a hug. Jonah has been my boyfriend and best friend for the past, almost six years, after serious negotiation and wailing about how we were 'too young to move in together' our parents finally let go of their stubborn acts. Although they did put up a fight and we ended up in a small apartment 'just in case things got tough'.

"Jesus you're gorgeous." He tucked a loose blonde strand of hair behind my ear.

Gorgeous was an over exaggeration, there was nothing spectacular about me. My blonde hair simply fell past my shoulders and my face was plain and feminine, I didn't have a trait that made me individually stand out. On the other hand, Jonah was anything but ordinary. His eyes were a blue galaxy in itself, his tall frame stood straight outlined by his sun-bleached blonde hair styled messy and tousled. I always wondered if he saw me the way I see him.

"How did I get so lucky?" He questioned in full curiosity, I always felt like I was the lucky one but his affection only greatened my fondness for him.

"Your hair." I teased weaving my fingers through his golden mane. He played with my dangling belly ring as I admired him in full awe. Our schedules were full on and not to mention deflective, even though we saw each other everyday it was different to spending time together like we were able to back in college where we actually had time and our responsibilities were only minuscule. Both being twenty-two going on twenty-three our plates were not only full but over flowing, it seems as if our lives were a juggling act on a high wire so every spare moment I had with my boyfriend I simply cherished. "You're home early?" I wondered and he hummed as I started to massage the hairs on the back of his neck.

"Work was quiet, I got the others to lock up so I could come home and spend time with my lovely girlfriend. I've never understood why girls got these belly things, wouldn't it hurt?" He started peppering my face with kisses erupting the giggles I never knew were audible, until I met Jonah.

"I was thirteen okay, lay off." I giggled whilst fixing the dangling piercing that arched through the dip in my stomach. "It doesn't come off as trashy does it? They were in at the time."

"Of course it doesn't, it's cute and you're beautiful." Jonah never wasted time complimenting me, even on the smallest things. He was always so charming, at first I thought it was weirdly creepy but now I don't think I could leave the front door without him commenting on basically everything or at least something.
