Calm waters was the spot where everyone usually went to during holidays at my school. Most parties were held there and that was also Kay Kay's favorite spot. It was a lounge during the day and a club at night, it was the reigning place in asaba.
I picked up my phone and dialled Derin's number, she picked up after the first ring.
"Zara, what's up?" She sounded like she was just waking up from sleep.
"Derin, calm waters."
"Huh? What are you saying?" I could imagine her rubbing her temple.
"Calm waters, the popular lounge. Remember it was Kay Kay's favorite place. Do you remember that drink that they made there? That one that everyone loved?" I asked, biting my lips, my palms were sweaty and my heart was beating fast.
"Sharks! In calm waters, you shall find sharks. Does that mean?"
"She's alive? I'm not sure but I know that whoever this is must have been hurt by Kay Kay or it's Kay Kay but we all saw her that day." I mumbled the last part, getting up from my bed and walking back and forth in my room.
"I know right! She can't possibly be alive but if she's the one, it'll all make sense, kind of." Derin stated and I sighed, my heart was aching me and I was feeling nauseous.
"You know what? Get some rest, we'll talk about this tomorrow. So how was your date with William, gist me about everything that happened."
I sat down on my bed and that was how I gave her a download of how my day went, including our kiss. She kept on saying "awwn" and "you guys are couple goals" at every slight opportunity she got.
After my call with Derin, I brought out my laptop to watch a series when I heard a knock on my door. I stood up from my bed and walked towards the door to open it. Otito bounced into my room as soon as I opened the door, without a warning.
"The way you bounced in eh, bounce out back."
She giggled and waved at me. "Come off it jor, we need to talk." She said, sitting on my bed and patting the space beside her, for me to sit.
Sometimes I wondered if I was really the older one between the both of us, she acted more mature and talked like an old woman sometimes. I never tell her this but she gives great advice. If I mistakenly praise her, I would never hear the end of it.
I rolled my eyes and sat on my couch. "Talk about what, little one?" I snickered while she glared at me.
"It has started again, hasn't it?" My heart immediately skipped a beat as soon as I heard what she said.
"I-I don't know what you're talking about." I stuttered, looking away from here and biting my nails.
The next thing I knew, Otito was in front of me, staring into my eyes and she smiled, showing me her extremely perfect teeth. She took my dad's set of teeth and his nose, she was truly an epitome of beauty.
"Zara, I know when you're lying and you're doing just that." She said, still putting on a creepy smile.
I groaned and laid down on the chair, putting my hand over my head.
"How did you find out?"
"It was obvious. Your friends were coming here too much, you have been jumpy for a while and I saw one of the messages you got." She shrugged, going back to the bed and crossing her leg like she owned the place.
"You checked my phone?" I growled, getting up from the chair and glared at her.
"To be fair, your phone called me. I was actually looking for you and then your phone rang and being the curious Otito that I am, I went to see and viola! You got a creepy text. Why don't you tell mummy about it?"
I scoffed and laid down again. "I don't think you know your mother. She'll ship me off to Canada."
"I think it's better you're shipped off alive, than dead. Just saying." With that, she waltzed out of my room and banged the door, making me wince at the sound.
"Break it oh, big head." I got up from the chair and went back to my bed to sleep.
I was still reading the note when I slept off. I felt my bed spring up and down, I could also hear giggles. I opened one of my eyes and saw Otito jumping on my bed like a 4 year old. I groaned and used my duvet to cover myself, she pulled it away and continued her jumping.
"How did you get into my room, this child?" I groaned, getting down from my bed and she stopped, sitting on my bed and trying to catch her breath.
"Well, your lazy ass didn't lock the door before you slept off. So I entered your room and decided to be a nuisance." She pouted and batted her eyelashes at me. I scoffed and went to open the door.
"Please be going, you're like a pest. Lice to be precise." She chuckled and came down from my bed, walking in slow motion towards where I was standing. "Walk fast now, I want to continue my sleep." She suddenly stopped and looked at me, then she ran back to my bed and continued jumping.
I sighed and locked the door, walking into my bathroom to do my hygiene, there was no need sleeping anymore. I opened my toothpaste tube, rinsing the brush on my toothbrush and then applied my toothpaste before brushing.
After I had my bath, I dragged Otito, who kept on singing Barbie songs with her annoying voice. I went downstairs with her to have breakfast, my mom wasn't in the kitchen, so it was only Otito and I.
"So when are you telling mummy?" Otito asked, making me groan.
"I already told you no. Stop disturbing me." She shrugged and sat down on a stool in the kitchen.
I opened the drawer where the plates are usually kept, brought out Otito's favorite plate and another plate for me. I washed them and dished our meals. My mom made spaghetti and grilled turkey. I put a fork in her spaghetti and placed it in front of her.
She mumbled a thank you and then left the kitchen with her food. Otito never showed it but she was a very caring person, she hated seeing me hurt or in pain.
I remember when she was five years old, I just started seeing my period and she saw blood on my gown. She began to cry, thinking I was going to die. She refused to leave my side through out the day and she kept on asking my mom if someone shot me, so she could shoot the person back. I was just eleven years old then.
I smiled at the memory and brought out two glasses, pouring orange juice in the both of them. I gave Otito her own as I got into the parlor, she was watching one of the step ups. She whispered a thank you and continued watching her movie.
I washed my plate and cup and left the kitchen for my room, I needed time to myself, to think. I made sure I locked my door this time, lying down on my bed. I stood up after a while and took my laptop from my study table, putting it on and selecting a series to watch.
So here's another update guys. Hope you guys enjoy it. Don't forget to vote, comment and share to your friends!!! Thanks guys!
