Buddar's POV

"What the heck was THAT all about?" Wild asked as we walked down the hallway.

I shrugged. "I don't know," I said. "Sky's been acting weird around us, I've seen him talking to his other recruits, and he doesn't act like that around them."

"Yeah, he's been weird." Kayla agreed. "Especially around you, Buddar."

I glanced at her, a confused look on my face. "What do you mean?" I asked.

Wild and Kayla exchanged silly grins. "Well..." Wild said. "He does stutter quite a bit when talking to you...."

"And his cheeks turn pink whenever you smile at him," Kayla said. "Which isn't very often, actually."

"And you look the most like a human out of all of us..." Wild trailed off.

I stopped walking, I narrowed my dark brown eyes. "What are you saying?" I asked.

Wild and Kayla grinned. "He likes you!" They sang in unison.

I burst out laughing, making them stop and give me weird looks. "You..." I managed to say between laughs. "You think... Sky would... Like... A HYBRID?! He's a human! We're two completely different species!"

Kayla cocked her head in confusion. "So, you're saying you don't like him?" She asked.

I stopped, I had never really thought about that before. Well, he's pretty nice. I thought. After all, he did save me from being strangled by a squid, like our parents....

The image of two wolf hybrids being strangled to death flashed through my mind. I didn't look anything like them, or Kayla, but anyone could tell they were my parents. I didn't want that to happen to Kayla, or Wild. I'm supposed to protect them, I didn't want to lose another family.

"Hey. Hey!" Kayla said, snapping her fingers in front of my face. "Minecraftia to Buddar! Wake up!"

I snapped back to reality and looked up. "Oh sorry," I said. "Anyway, I do think he's a nice person, but I wouldn't go all the way to saying that I like him in that way. Besides, even if I did like him, it would never work out. A hybrid and a human? Give me a beak!"

Kayla and Wild shrugged. "Alright," Wild said. "We were just curious."

We all continued walking down the hall, out of the corner of my eye, I saw King Sky peek around the corner, watching us go. He seemed to be disappointed, but for what reason, I didn't know.
