Lasted like a sweet summer,
Which never seems to visit again.
Reverberating like a distant voice,
Which never stops calling my name. Was it even real?
Lives now, only the barest shadow
Of an endearing thought,
Always on the edge of conscience,
Always existing in the dark. What is real?
Sometimes it feels closer,
Like we used to be,
And those are the nights,
You run away with my sleep. Were we ever real?
There was a time I wanted you back,
Nothing else mattered,
Now I don't know what I want,
Did it really ever matter? Why is it real?
Pages and pages they write,
About how their young loves existed,
But I know as long as we live,
Ours will never even have aged.I think it was real.
Yesterday was a sweet memory,
Tomorrow, never what it seems,
All of our todays,
Will remain a lasting dream.
