it was safe to say that tsukishima didn't feel very him today. you out of all people would know that, after having seen him much more irritated than usual today for reasons unknown to you.

sure, you could say he's always like that but never in the year you've lived with him had you ever seen him with a deeper scowl on his face (apart from when watching a bad movie but that's a different story).

it was probably dangerous to prod around in his business but all you wanted was to know whether your not-so-lovely roommate had malfunctioned or not.

"hey, kei?" you walk towards him slowly, trying to get a look at his face as he slouched over his desk where he was writing and reading.

"what?" his voice had more venom, it made you feel like he was holding you at gun point with the glance he grudgingly spared you.

"are you okay?" tsukishima sighed deeply, he pinched the bridge of his nose and his brows furrowed in annoyance before answering you.

"I would be if you'd just leave me alone." he grumbled, getting back to the previous work he was doing.

you huffed and ran downstairs to the kitchen. you remember buying ingredients yesterday for something you had been wanting to try for a while now.

it wasn't easy trying to read the instructions for a strawberry shortcake recipe you had never done before and you may or may not agree with yourself that despite being a pretty decent chef you're pretty horrible at baking.

it was somewhat stressful, trying to not have anxiety while reading the instructions because you were afraid of getting anything wrong messing up and have tsukishima get more upset with you than he already does.

footsteps started to make their way towards you and you were panicking, not knowing whether or not you should act natural (not that you can but you'll try) or try and keep it as a surprise for him.

"have you made the icing yet?" tsukishima's unusually soft voice had suddenly joined the quietness of the kitchen.

"what?" you ask dumbfounded. you stopped pouring the batter for a moment to stare at the taller male beside you.

"I'm helping you out." tsukishima brings out the strawberries and the rest of the ingredients for the icing as you reluctantly pour the rest of the batter onto the cake tins.

"here. I'll put those in the oven and you can cut the strawberries." you quietly nod, not knowing where the annoyance he was displaying earlier had gone while you were trying to make the cake.

"why are you making a cake?" he suddenly asks stirring the icing while you watched having been finished with cutting the strawberries.

"I just thought that maybe you'd feel better if you had cake." he only hummed, continuing what he was doing and working with you in silence until the cake was finished.

"thank you." tsukishima mumbled staring at the piece of cake in front of him.

"you're welcome." you smile sitting beside him as you played a movie tsukishima was sure he was going to hate after five minutes.

"why are they wHITE?!" within a minute of the movie, tsukishima was already fuming beside you as you laughed at his snarky remarks and strange insults he threw at the movie playing before you.

"THAT'S NOT HOW YOU WATERBEND!" you snorted almost choking on the piece of cake as tsukishima gave you worried looks while he stared in anger at the television.

"we should burn this movie."
