"It's over?" Annie wondered aloud as she peered at the white-haired girl lay unconscious in the dirt.
The girl's too-long hair was spattered with crimson, spread around her snow-white face like a halo. Her icy blue eyes were closed; there was no flickering underneath her soft eyelids, but the dark eyelashes glittered from the salty droplets clinging to them as the fog of night cleared to give way to morning's warming glow.
No lines creased the unconscious girl's gentle-looking face, but an everlasting, true frown tugged pale lips downwards.
Annie fell to her knees, laughing nervously, checking that the girl's small body was truly still, before forcing the rust-encrusted knife from her hand.
She left the bloodied knife in the chest where she had plunged it only a minute earlier.
She laughed again.
"Look now!" She cried, "I thought you were the strong one!"
Annie's whole body was shaking.
"But look who got killed by who!" She gripped the girl's cold arm fiercely, digging her nails into the flesh, "Your small body finally did you in!" She whispered harshly into un-hearing ears, then raised her voice to a shout, "YOUR STUPID REVENGE FAILED YOU! STUPID! STU-"
"Annie?" Came a concerned voice through the trees.
Annie's eyes widened in panic; there wasn't enough time to hide the body!
A second later, Gemma, a serious girl who Annie and the white-haired girl were friends with, stepped through the thick, dark tree-line into the illuminated clearing where the fight had gone on, pulling twigs and leaved from her midnight hair irritably.
She froze when she saw Annie knelt by the bloody body, verimillion droplets like freckles up her pale arms, blood stained her clothes red.
"An...nie?" She asked cautiously, eyes wide.
"GEMMA!" Annie chuckled gleefully "I knew it! Look! Guardian's can die!"
She stood up, and turned to Gemma, spreading her arms wide and laughing delusionally in the glowing sun. The light caught the fresh droplets of blood splattered on her face, making then glitter like tainted morning dew.
"I knew it!" She cried, "STUPID REVENGE! Revenge is pointless! Revenge is no-" She stopped with a gasp, eyes wide with fear, as a slender arm coiled itself around her neck, stroking the soft flesh with corpse-like fingers.
"It is you who is pointless." A sly voice whispered behind her ear.
"Yuki..." Gemma muttered, just as the wind caught the supposedly dead-girl's white hair, and blew it in front of Annie's eyes, like evidence that she had failed. She was frozen in fear.
"You should make sure you take all of your victim's weapons as evidence." Yuki said huskily, as Gemma noticed how the regularly deceptively-childish eyes looked soul-less and dead.
There was a sound like the tearing of flesh, and a pained groan as Yuki pulled the precious, bejewelled knife from her chest, and blood gIushed out, soaking through both her's and Annie's clothing slowly.
"If we die... We die together, my dear, dear friend." She reached her free arm forward, holding the tip of the knife to Annie's chest, where her heart was.
Slowly, she kissed Annie's neck tenderly, and drove the knife into her heart. Annie instantly turned to stone, and Yuki smiled weakly, losing blood fast, and fell backwards, clutching Annie's stone body tightly.
As she she fell, she muttered softly, a look of regret in her tired eyes, "Revenge lasts until the end."
Her eyes closed, and she took her last breath, lying in the mud, holding the cold body of the only girl she had ever been close enough to to consider her best friend.

Annie and Yuki should totally be a pairing.
I mean, I know most people don't know about them, but in my mind they have the perfect, tragic relationship!
It's like forbidden love! Not many of you know... but Yuki being a Guardian is actually a curse put upon her by the strong want for revenge that is in her village (Rubicund-Chi). As such, the curse causes her one goal in life to be killing the family of the one that her village wants revenge against.
The family just happens to be the family of the girl she starts to get along with so well at the Academy, Annie Herinhart, this was all due to some stupid thing that happened in the past where someone went into her village and took the Wise-woman's daughter. Happened to be Annie's Grandfather/Father... Not sure though...
And thus, Annie is destined to be killed by Yuki!
And that , my friends', is what makes their awesome, super-best-friend (And, in my imagination, yu~ri~) relationship so tragic!
Voila!
I hope you enjoyed this short thing!
