? POV
I awake to the sound of an annoying tweeting sound. I hated new-leaf so much. Flowers and herbs bloomed and regrew, prey returned as well as health to the Clans. Birds rang in my ears from dawn to dusk. Why would I like it? I hate the Clans so much and all those things benefit them. The prey, I admit, does help me, but I always get my way and if I don't, then someone dies. Always. Repeatedly.
That reminds me, one of the apprentices should have left a robin and two mice in front of me by dawn. They have failed to complete their task. I sighed, oh well. I climbed out of my soft bed of moss and padded through a tunnel of rocks and ferns, lined with brambles. I pushed pass some bracken that was like a door.
Ahh, there's my breakfast. The apprentice had caught my prey. They still need a warning, if anyone was to find this, they'd have suspicions. Then again, I did live just outside the territories. But you never know with them Clan cats.
I sniffed it, it was most likely caught at moonhigh. Average but I prefer closer to dawn. This apprentice needed a good warning to set it straight. Let's see, she was in DawnClan, I believe so just a shorter walk. That's one reason why I like to make DawnClan apprentices my servants, but the main reason is because they're weak. Peacekeepers you might call them. They have almost no battle skills.
Soon I found the rocky edges where the I told the kit to meet me. They said it be too open, so in the tallest tree, it was close to the rocky edges they described. I saw a tall ash tree, it had a faint scent of the kit on it.
I dug my claws into the bark and climbed to one of the highest branches were I found her. Her calico pelt was glistening in the dawn light. Her yellowish eyes stared into mine and she stood and smiled. She annoyed me greatly. I'm glad we met in a tall tree.
"Your work was sloppy. The prey was not fresh and the Robin was too skinny," she frowned, "well-" she was just too sassy, one that would have to be disposed of for sure, "No. Too sloppy." I sprang at her and unsheathed my claws. It held her over the edge with my claws to her neck. She yelped and I dug my claws into her. Then, promptly threw her over.
I watched, satisfied, as she fell, down, down, down. She hit ground. She was motionless. I climbed slowly down. I hated trees. She was bloody on neck a bit, and rest was just impact. I glanced around, there, some lavender. I have to hide my scent. I sprinted over them and picked a few with my mouth and raced back over the calico.
I rubbed it all over her and me, in fact. My job was done.
The rest of the day was uneventful, except for another one of the apprentices had dropped by sunhigh and left a rabbit. Good. I ate half of that and put the rest in a pile at the back of the den in the pile.
Now that I only had three apprentices working for me, I needed to get a fourth. I limited myself to four servants, one from each Clan. This way no one could group together and kill me. So, another apprentice from DawnClan. Maybe that cremey one? No, probably too strong, he'd be made a warrior soon. Oh- yes, the calico's sister, she was a white she-cat, quite pretty if I have to say.
That doesn't stop me, though. I would wait a day or two, to let the grief set in. Then I'll recruit her. She would be at her weakest and wouldn't stand a chance. It was almost moonhigh, I better get going. Ever other night, I met the FoxClans deputy. Same with DawnClan. I pretended to love them. I just got information out of them. It was FoxClans turn tonight.
Foxfire POV
I raced through the forest. It was a colder night, but that didn't bother me. I was happy to finally break away from my Clan for a moment. The trees soon faded away and ground became more rocky. I saw a figure there, waiting for me.
Joy burst into me. I rubbed my cheek against his. He was happy too, "Hello, Foxfire," he mewed. His eyes glistened in the starlight. So handsome he was. "Hi," I said back to him.
The night seemed short as dawn approached again. I wish I could invite him to my Clan- I even asked him if he wanted to be part of FoxClan. He said no, only because he enjoyed his life as a free, wild cat and that he had a good life, already. I purred, I understood. It was like him asking me to come and be free with him. I couldn't do that. I had to stay loyal to my Clan.
I caught a small raven and returned to camp. I acted as if I'd just gone hunting early. I was ready to start the day off with some battle move training with Cherrypaw. She was my apprentice, and I was proud of it.
"Cherrypaw?" I peeked my head under the small cliff-type den. There lay my glorious ginger cat. She seemed to be pretending to sleep. "I know you're awake," I said she opened her fern-green eyes and sighed, "I know."
"Well let's go! Time to battle." I ordered and playfully nudged her up. She got to her paws and stretched. We padded up the stony stairs and out of camp. It was a chilly new-leaf day. I headed for the sandy clearing used for training.
I set my paw in the whitish sand. It was cold and it felt good on my tired and rough paw pads. "Okay. Show me a side swipe." She nodded and we got in a crouch, she came at me fast, flinging sandy into the air. I leaped up, and ran a circle around her. She froze. I did a half-circle before she made her move and barreled me over from my side.
I thought this move was very useful. It put your opponent in an awkward position. She set a paw my chest. This made the air in lungs slowly forced out, "Stop, what are doing? This isn't a real battle," I pleaded, she shook her head and climbed off of me. I rolled over onto my paws. The she-cat was staring solidly at the sand. I gasped for air. How was she so good at that move? I had not taught her it.
I shook my head and we continued our training.
? POV
It had been a couple days since I last murdered my DawnClan apprentice. She was just too easy. I waited behind a small bush. I was waiting for the white apprentice to show up. I was tracking her, so I could get her when she was alone. And Helpless. Soon I herd tiny paw steps. She was coming.
Just when she paused and sniffed the air, I heard her mumble, "That's an odd scent..." I sprang and pinned her down. Her greenish eyes were filled terror. "You have two choices..." I began like I always did, "Recruit and become a slave of mine and do everything I tell you to. Or you'll get killed right on spot." She squirmed under my big paws.
"Kill me! I'll stay loyal to my Clan!" I chuckled. How amateur. "As you wish." I unsheathed my claws. She yelped with pain I saw her claws flex. But what could she do? Nothing. I ran my paw up to her neck. I saw her close her eyes, and to my joy, she said, "Fine! I'll recruit! Just leave me alone!" I didn't let her up.
She wasn't trustworthy. "Promise, by the oath of StarClan that you won't betray me." I demand. StartClan meant nothing to me, but I knew it meant something to them. StarClan seemed rather stupid. I mean, a whole Clan were dead cats go. I pretty sure I made up half of that place.
Anyways, she promised by oath of Dead Cat Clan and let her go. Simple as catching a vole.
