Yukon Marston POV:
Grayson: "Everyone downstairs."
We head back to the staircase, which has a large open section to the floor below with a banister, and it's like a cafeteria with all the groans, hisses, and snarls down below. Zombies that notice the guys start trying to climb the stairs. It's pretty gross, flesh hanging on bones by a thread, bones completely showing, people clamoring around dragging their entrails behind them. It's not a pretty picture.
Grayson: "Light em up."
He opens fire. The rest of us follow.
At this point, most of the zombies know we're here, so who cares about the noise, plus we've got a decent choke point for ourselves. Rides with Buffalo and Swims with Fish are using their bows while Sheriff, Ezra and Charlie start shooting. Rides with Buffalo is closest to the staircase and he takes one or two down with his knife and tomahawk that are able to climb the stairs. We wait a few moments after killing what seemed like the last one.
Grason: "Ok, looks like that wave is over. We'll head to the saloon and the general store next."
Everyone heads downstairs, carefully stepping over the rotted corpses, and meet outside.
Swims with Fish: "Burn the building. It will destroy their corpses and the sickness they bring."
Ezra: "Are we gonna have to burn the whole town?"
Yukon: "We burn it all. We can't risk this getting farther than it already has."
I walk back into the inn and grab an oil lantern. I smash it onto the floor, and the place immediately sets ablaze. I walk back out.
Yukon: "All traces of this have to go. We burn this town to the ground and any bodies along with it. We'll find a new place to live. Y'all can head to Carson City and find something out that way."
The general store is destroyed inside, the racks toppled over and blood stains on the floor everywhere, but the only one in there is the shopkeeper. The saloon had about three or so zombies in it, they were leftover from Ezra and Sheriff's daring escape earlier. They found a couple zombies outside yet that they had to drag in to be burned with the buildings.
Charlie: "Looks like Doc's place is about the only one left standing."
He's surveying what was once their town. A couple of the larger buildings are still ablaze, while some of the smaller ones have gone out already. We get to Doc's place and find the door locked and curtains still drawn. Bastard must've locked himself in there.
Ezra: "Doc! You in there? Open up already!"
He finds a window with a curtain not pulled down and puts his face on the glass to try and look in.
Ezra: "Can't see shit in there, where in the hell is he at?"
Grayson: "Doc."
Sheriff is banging hard on the door. After a pause he looks at me.
Grayson: "Alright break it down, Marston."
I bring my foot in on the door handle. It took two tries but I broke it in. Doc's place is a two room building. The main area is where he sees patients, then in the back there's a doorway to where his bedroom area is. Unless Doc is in his bedroom he's nowhere to be found.
Charlie: "Holy shit."
He's standing next to Doc's exam table, Eli's body is still lying on it, completely sliced to Kingdom Come.
Ezra: "It's like he went at Eli like he was a ham, opened him up damn near everywhere."
Charlie:"And look at these poor bastards."
