*2 - ABIR*
Abir woke up with a start. He exercised his neck to remove the crick in it and then saw that he was still sitting with his hand on Mishti's head. He recalled everything that she had said last night. "I'm sorry Mishti. I know you are right in your place and I know what I did was also not wrong but it wasn't fair. You are right. You shouldn't have had to provide any explanation this time because you had nothing to do with it. I wish you had been quiet that day because the fight escalated for no reason but I understand your point Mishti. I'm sorry. I will try and solve it for you as much as I can now."
He got up careful not to wake up Mishti and went out to the balcony where his mother was playing the sitar. He waited patiently for her to finish then took her blessings as she smiled and greeted him. "Good morning beta. God bless you."
"Ma! You said that you have a problem with Mishti because she comes from a broken house and won't know how to handle our household. You were angry yesterday with both Mishti and Kuhu and you were justified. This kind of petty fights have never happened in our house before and they shouldn't happen now either. But..."
"Abir, but?"
"Ma, Your method may not work. I want to get to the bottom of this matter and for that, I'll need your help. I have come to you this time because despite all that's happened, I know this time our goals are the same. Peace in the household."
"Abir, Are you sure you can do this?"
Abir nodded. He turned towards Kunal who had just joined them. "Nanko! Are you ready?"
"Yes, bhai. I feel bad about what's going to happen though."
Abir looked at his mother and told her the plan. The three looked at each other and nodded.
"Abir beta, This might backfire on you though. Are you sure you want to go ahead with this? Think hard and then answer."
Abir thought about Mishti and her words from the night before. "I made a mistake leaving the house, Ma. Mishti just went through something so traumatic and I left because I couldn't stand the petty fights. That wasn't the answer. It just made Mishti weaker and subdued and Kuhu, a martyr. Both of them don't deserve that and that's why we need to do this."
Meenakshi Rajvansh thought about it and nodded. "Alright. If you think this is the right way to go about it. I'm with you, all the way."
"Me too, bhai."
Abir smiled and looked towards his room. He thought, "Mishti! I promised to be your dhaal three months ago and I failed. I won't fail you again. Abir Rajvansh will always be with his angry chorni."
***************************************
Abir watched as Mishti came downstairs slowly. She seemed so indecisive about everything now. She looked at Abir and smiled. Abir's breath caught as he saw her love for him through the smile. No matter what she was going through, she still loved him and wanted to be happy for him. He thought of her words last night for what seemed like the millionth time and a fresh wave of pain went through him. "I promise Mishti, I won't let this issue prolong. Whatever problems we face in life, this won't be one of them."
He went to the dining area following Mishti and looked at Kunal and his mother who returned his look with a thumbs up sign. He closed his eyes once then smiled at Kuhu who was making a milkshake.
"Bro! I'm so glad Mishti and you made up. Just look at us all together again."
Mishti looked at him surprised as she stopped helping Maasi cut bhindi for lunch. Abir smiled and gestured for her to carry on. Meanwhile Kuhu smiled and replied, "You're right bro. See, I'm so happy that everything is okay now. Mishti won't fight with me simply and we will all be one happy family again. She promised that she will take care of everything."
