Sam's Pov

A crumpling sound is heard as I folded up the map. It's no use to me right now so I tuck it away in my bag.

The rain started to fall down harder on me and the sky was getting cloudy, I need to get inside before I get drenched.

I pulled the sleeves of my sweatshirt down over my hands to protect them from getting wet. Then I held onto my bag and sped over huge doors and hid under the porch. The rain couldn't reach me from here.

I huddle up towards the doors and inspect the field in front of the mansion. I would've called it the front yard, but it's so huge that calling it "front yard" doesn't do it justice.

The field was pretty plain, there were only a few tiny trees and big bushes scattered among it. In the middle of the field there stood a gray fountain made out of concrete, the base of it had a simple cylinder shape. Near the top of the fountain was a simple dome shape that was catching some of the rain water.

I think I could even see some of the water spill out of the dome and into the base of the fountain.

I stepped away from the door to get closer to the fountain. I swear I could see something designed at the tip.

I leaned forward, but I still made sure that I wouldn't come into contact with the rain. I squinted my eyes slightly, and..

Oh! I could finally tell it was a tiny duck, it shared the same simplicity as the rest of the fountain. At least that's what I could make out from where I was standing.

Just then I felt something cold tap my head. I quickly pulled my head back and put my hand to the spot that was hit. I tilted my head up and saw nothing.

Although I did see that I was standing a little close to the edge of the roof. After I noticed that, the same cold drop hit my hand. I backed up against the door again, I saw that my hand had a drop of water on it.

I shook it off and decided to stop observing the field, there wasn't much else I could spot besides more tiny trees and bushes.

I spun myself around, now I'm face to face with the doors of the building. I take a deep breath in and push on the doors.
But it didn't work.

I step back, I could feel the confused expression on my face. I quickly brushed off the confusion and gave the door a harder push.
It still didn't budge.

This time as I was stepping back, grabbed the handles and gave a good tug.

And you guessed it, the door didn't open.

I let go of the handles and crossed my arms over my chest, giving the door a puzzled look. How was I supposed to get in now.

I stare at the door while thinking of ways to opening it. Occasionally pushing or tugging at the door, which was no avail.

By now the wind was starting to pick up, and a chill ran through me. My clothes and hair had gotten damp, it's making me even more cold. I was definitely going to get a fever after this.

Then my eyes lit up with an idea, I've seen scenes of movies where people have broken into houses. Even though this is real life, it was worth a shot.

I gave myself time to think back to any movie scenes that could possibly help my situation. I was so focused on finding a way in that I didn't notice the pitter-patter of the rain. Or the low howl from the wind.

I was coming up with a few ideas, but none of them were something I could realistically do.

I can try and break a window, I thought, but it'll be loud and the windows are placed too high for the condition I'm in.
