Sam's pov

I just woke up from a nap to my alarm going off from across the room. I reluctantly got up and off my bed, dragging my feet as I walked.

I picked up my phone and shut off the alarm. Then I look at my lock screen to check the time.

6:00 pm  the time read

I might leave closer to 6:30, so I have 30 minutes to get ready.

I put down my phone and walk over to my bag that I had packed before I took my nap. I go through it and make sure that I've packed essentials and anything else I think I'll need.

Here's what's in the bag:

-Map
-Flashlight
-Snacks
-Water bottles
-Small knife
-...a small teddy bear
-Bandages
-Journal & Pen
-Camera
-Wrist Watch

Then I left the rest of the space for anything else that I find at the mansion. Although I feel like I've forgotten to pack something..

I zipped my bag closed and tossed it on my bed, I made a mental note of where I put it so I don't end up forgetting.

"Okay, now it's time to get ready" I mumble to myself, with my hands resting on my hips.

Confidence radiating throughout me as I began to prepare myself.

I'm walking back and forth in our living room with the strap my bag slumped over my shoulder. I'm ready right now, but I'm having second thoughts.

I grip the straps of my bag a little tighter as my pace slightly quickened.

"Hey, you're pacing. What's wrong?" Victoria asked, interrupting my thoughts.

I turn to her, confused due to me not realizing that she was in the same room as me.

I just shrug my shoulders. Her question isn't processing in my brain correctly.

"Remember that it isn't to late to back out of your little investigation" She points out.

My pacing had stopped after Victoria said that. I cross my arms over my chest with a huff, there's no way i'm giving up, not after all of the prepping I've done.

"No, it is a little late for that. I've already done the research and.." I gesture down to my outfit. Showing her that I'm physically ready too.

Victoria turned her attention completely away from her phone and looked me up and down. I could tell that she was silently judging my outfit based on her firm gaze.

I start to feel uncomfortable with the way she was eyeing me. My pose stiffens because of my discomfort.

Afterwards her eyes me with mine again, I braced myself for any form of criticism she could come up with.

Victoria only exhaled sharply.

"Are you sure you even have everything?" She questioned.

Victoria appeared to be concerned for me now. Even though a moment ago she seemed to want to knock some sense into me.

I gave her a confident nod and a huge proud grin. I wasn't actually certain I had everything I would need, but
I wasn't going to let her know that.

"Well, what if you run out of food or water?" She continued to ask.

That is a very good and valid point. Although it still won't stop me.
