One day the Lumberjack came across the maple nymph. Singing a song and dipping his fingers into a stream of clear water.

The lumberjack called out, but the nymph could not listen except for the sound of his own voice. When the Lumberjack reached the nymph, The nymph screamed a terrible word.

“Maple!”

The nymph looked at the albino with frightened eyes. Albino chuckled, “Never heard that when someone scares you.” The nymph who had taken a second to calm down, glaring at the intruder. “ I wouldn't have to say it if someone wouldn't scare me!” The nymph pouted his lips.
The nymph was blond with purple eyes, Maple leaf like clothing draped from every limb. His hair was tied up with a single string. The only thing non human was the teeth as sharp as a dagger, and the little slits that perforated his pupils. Gilbert noted the leather boots that were thrown at the side of the stream had embroidery in it. Colors that could rival the dusk.
The nymph who was also studying the lumberjack, got up and shook out his shoes Mumbling incoherently. “I should've went with Al in washington, bet he's not disterbed.”
“Sorry what was that?”
“Oh! Nothing just rambling!”
The Lumberjack eyed the nymph. Taking in the sights. His axe felt loose in his sweaty hands and his jaw clenched like no other. His ringer burning him like it was reminding him to say something. But instead he slipped it off in his pocket and held out his hand.”
    “Gilbert Beildshdmit.”
    “Mathew.”
    “That's it?”
The nymph looked up from their handshake and shied away. “I have no need to tell you my last name.” Gilbert grinned. “ Why? Afraid you’ll take mine?” The nymph blushed. “ No, I'm afraid you'll steal mine.” Gilbert laughed and the nymph smiled. “This might be a while wont it?” The nymph said. The Lumberjack nodded while snickering. “It might be.”
And so the lumberjack put down his axe and he and the nymph walked, talking and laughing as the sun began to lower. Their shoes found themselves in their hands as they ran in the stream.

The Lumberjack and the Maple nymph connected soon after their mishap, and the lumberjack had told the nymph of his brother's illness. The nymph said he could cure his brother's illness, but the nymph made the lumberjack promise that he would not speak to his family about the nymph, and their interaction. When the Lumberjack arrived home….
