My eyes flickered open as I moved my head. White walls surrounded me, still I heard the noise of a machine coming from beside me. I soon noticed I was lying on a hospital bed and my big bump was long gone. What had happened? Where was my baby?

My eyes moved from the machine to a couch a few feet away. There was a boy around my age sleeping. White skin, blonde hair. He seemed handsome but the question was: Did he save me last night? He must have been the one to help me. There wasn’t anyone else around. I stared at the ceiling replaying the events that happened the night before. Luke came looking for me. I ran away from him. I was about to give birth when someone touched my shoulder and helped me. Then everything went black.

“Where am I?” I spoke a bit loud, trying to get the boy to wake up. His head snapped up and he quickly ran over to the bed.

“Before answering the question, are you okay?” I nodded. I furrowed my brows as I took in his accent. It wasn’t English. He was Irish. “Last night, you were about to give birth to your baby. My friend Josh and I brought you here.”

“Oh right.” I finally took a look at his eyes. They were blue, looking peacefully. I felt more than safe now. “Where’s my baby?”

“They’re at the nursery.” He smiled as my eyes widened. They’re? What was he talking about?

“They? Wait! Can you explain to me what’s going on?” His face turned serious.

“You… you didn’t know you were going to have twins?” I sat up on the bed as my eyes widened once again.

“No.” Was all that came out of my mouth. I looked at him. He smiled at me. I returned the smile trying to get ovet the fact that I had a pair of twins inside me for nine months.

“They’re twins. A boy and a girl.” I smiled at the thought of having them in my arms soon enough.  “What’s your name?”

“It’s Heather.” I gave out my hand for him to shake and he gladly took it.

“Nice to meet you. I’m Niall. I just asked because I was afraid of touching your purse. The nurses were the ones who took it.” I nodded. It really surprised me how a boy my age didn’t feel the need to search through my things. Some of them back in school did. I felt stalked but Niall was nice.

“I don’t know how to thank you for saving my babies’ lives and mine.” He chuckled.

“No need to. I’m happy I helped. How old are you?” I played with my fingers before answering.

“I turned seventeen two weeks ago.” He noticed the disappointment in my voice and tried to smile.

“Wow! Well Happy Birthday then!” I laughed at his enthusiasm.

“Thank you.” I looked around me. I had never been to a hospital once and here I was. “How old are you Niall?”

“I’m eighteen. Got them a few months ago.” I smiled at him and then looked down. “Excuse my rudeness but would you tell me what were you doing in the streets at that hour when it was raining and being pregnant?”

“It’s a long story,” I was about to continue but he cut me off.

“I got time.” I gave him a confused look but the look on his face told me that he did care. He sat on the edge of the hospital bed.

As I told Niall what happened, I couldn’t help but let a few tears escape. He kept his attention on me, constantly nodding and asking why or how everything happened. I have to admit it. He was very emotional, letting a few eyes escape his tears. I told him everything. From my mom being married to Luke, to me being pregnant.

“Niall I’m sorry I dropped everything on you right now.” He wiped his cheek and gave me a smile.

“Don’t worry. Sometimes is better to say what you feel.” He paused. “I think you must feel horrible, huh?”

“Maybe but I feel safe now knowing that my babies are okay.” He nodded.

After a few days in the hospital, Niall said I could stay with him at his flat. I accepted his request because I knew I had nowhere to go. We entered his flat, him holding my baby boy in his hands and I holding my little girl. The place was amazing. The decoration was nothing like a I imagined it. The place looked big yet comfy.

“You live here?” He turned around and smiled.

“Yes. I’m in a band.” He pointed the big poster next to us. It was him with four other boys. “We’re called One Direction. And we have to be careful with the media.”

“Okay, that’s cool. That is how you afford this place?” He nodded.

“Come here. I want to show something.” I followed him, still holding one of the most precious treasures in my arms. I followed Niall into one of the rooms in his flat. It had two cribs, one with pink and the other with blue covers. The walls were painted in white. It was beautiful and cozy. “What do you think?”

“I love it.” I turned around and smiled at him. “You didn’t have to.”

“It’s okay. I got some help from Josh.” I chuckled and he smiled at me. “You can leave the kids here if you want to. I’m going to make dinner.”

“Okay then. Thanks again Niall.” He nodded and placed the boy in his arms inside his crib. I kissed my little girls head and placed her inside of her crib. “We’ll get through this.”

Later that night, Niall and I were sitting on his couch talking about his job and his band mates. He said he was in a competition called the X Factor and he auditioned by himself, letting Simon Cowell take the decision of making a band so he and his band mates wouldn’t lose the chance of their lives.

“So what names do you have in mind for your babies? I looked at the babies in our arms. I thought about it.

“His name is going to be James. In your honor.” He was about to protest but I stopped him. “You saved their lives and mine. We owe you.”

“Thanks.” He looked down at the baby boy I had now named James and then at the baby girl. “What’s her name going to be?”

“Genesis. It means beginning.” He nodded in agreement.

“I like their names.” I smiled at him and then looked down at my babies. They were everything to me right now.

Niall and I kept on talking about our lives while changing the babies’ diaper or I breast feeding them. I would laugh at Niall as he covered his face while I did it. Niall offered me to take me to work with him the next day but I declined the invitation. I wanted to stay with my lovely kids and be with them all day long but Niall promised he would take me out so I could buy some clothes for me and the babies.
