I couldn't shake the uneasiness I felt as my eyes opened slowly. I fell asleep, pain coursing through my head. The room was dark and I could hear a couple hushed voices in the background. I turned my head to the side and tried to move my arms but something was holding them together.
I tried not to show it but I actually was a bit scared. Whoever did this was human so I couldn’t use my magic to free myself. I tried to look around a bit more to see if I could figure out where I was.
“It’s no use sweetheart. There ain’t no place for you to go.” A familiar voice called out. The men in the background laughed a bit.
“I brought you here to have a good time darling,” the voice said again. Now I knew who this voice belonged to.
“General…” I said in a raspy voice. My throat was a bit dry as I turned my head to find the voice. Then his silhouette in the moonlight coming from the window.
“That’s me darling. It is a shame we had to meet like this, but you know, when I want something I just got to have it.” The General smiled.
I tried to move my legs to stand up but my ankles were bound too. “Untie me!” I sneered as I looked up at him.
The General chuckled a bit and sat down on a couch that tucked into a corner of the room. My vision was finally back to normal as I looked around more. The room was empty other than the five men that stood around me, the old mattress I was tied up on, and the couch. The windows were boarded but some of the moonlight spilled through cracks in the wood. My eyes landed back on the General. I glared at him and spoke again.
“Untie me I said!” I shouted at him, and the soldiers.
The General smirked. “Awe, come on now fella’s, you heard the lady. Untie her,” he said mockingly.
Two of the five men knelt down next to me and freed my wrists and my ankles. I sat up quickly and glared at all of them again.
“Oh, they won’t hurt you without my permission, so calm down.” The General chuckled a bit and looked at me.
“Why am I here?!” I shouted at him angrily and also hoped my voice could be heard. I was trying to come up with an escape plan. But I didn’t give any hints with my body language. The General got up and walked over to me swiftly and grabbed my arm yanking me towards him.
“You’re here to have a good time with me little darling.” The General smirked at me a bit creepily. “Whether you want to or not, Reeceson isn’t exactly here to stop me this time,” he added. He started to drag me towards the sofa. I was pulling backwards and tried to yank my arm away.
“Let me go!” I shouted again as he pushed me on the couch. The General unbuckled his pants and licked his lips as if I was a meal. I shivered as I looked up at him. I was actually becoming scared. I backed up as he came towards. He moved closer to me and leaned over.
“This will be fun. Just let it happen my darling. It’ll hurt more if you struggle.”
I shook my head and tried to use my powers in a way no one would suspect me. As he inched closer to me with the smell of beer on his breath I closed my eyes and tried to concentrate. He reached his hands up to rub my leg. I flinched a bit but still tried to concentrate.
Soon the silence in the room was replaced by the faint sound of something cracking. One of the men turned to look towards the window.
The General’s hand moved underneath my dress up past my thighs. “Such a beautiful body,” he whispered.
The sound of cracking became a bit louder. This time it caught all the males attention except the General. I was becoming extremely uncomfortable and scared. My body flinched every time he moved his somewhere new.
Soon his fingers curled around my underwear. And that was the last straw.
The windows burst into a bunch of small shards. The men quickly backed away as did the General.
“What the hell is going on?!” The General shouted as he got up. I saw that as my chance to run.
I got up quickly and ran towards the door. It wasn’t locked thank god. I didn’t care where I was going. I just had to get away from here. As soon as I exited the house I came to a stop as I saw Reeceson standing in front of me.
Reeceson didn’t hesitate to scoop me up in his arms and started to jog away. All I could hear behind us was the men shouting before I blacked out.
When I managed to open my eyes again a bright light shined. I covered my eyes and groaned softly. I heard voices talking in quiet voices. I sat up slowly and uncovered my eyes. After blinking a few times I realized I was in my room.
“I told you everything I know. I went looking for her,” a familiar voice said.
“Sir, we understand, but that places you at the scene. We won’t know the truth until she wakes up.” Another voice said.
I slowly made my way to my door and opened it. Standing at my doorway were the police, Reeceson and Layla.
“What’s going on?” I asked with a curious tone. Could they be here about my kidnapping? I asked myself.
“I’m so glad you’re awake Mara!” Layla said as she hugged me tightly. I couldn’t really hug her back as my eyes locked onto Reeceson’s. He looked at me a bit sadly but didn’t say anything.
“Ms Crimson, we have to ask you a few questions. We hope you give us your full cooperation.” The policeman said.
I nodded and he started to ask me questions. They asked me who kidnapped me last night. And I responded telling them The General did the act. They asked what he did. Of course it took me a moment to answer. I told them that he attempted to rape me. They apologized but had continued to ask me questions. I told them everything. Even what had happened to Reeceson earlier that day. They took notes and told me that they would investigate, but I shouldn’t travel alone for a while. Especially at night. I agreed to their terms. It was to keep me safe after all. Once they left I took a deep breath. Layla went to go make some tea for us. Reeceson turned to look at me.
“Marabeth...i am so sorry,” he started to apologize in a very sorrowful tone.
I moved towards him and pulled him into a hug. He was a bit hesitant but he slowly wrapped his arms around me.
“There is nothing to be sorry about. You came for me. That’s all that matters, Reeceson.” I whispered as I rubbed his back.
Reeceson sighed softly as he nodded a bit and let go of me.
“I have free time. I want to watch over you for the time being. I wouldn’t be able to see anything else happen to you!” He said, looking down at me with gentle eyes.
“Why do you want to protect me? I know that it is your duty as a soldier, but Reeceson, you barely know me. You shouldn’t get hurt because of me.”
“It has nothing to do with me being a soldier, Marabeth. Everyone always sees me as a soldier instead of just a man. I am a man that wants to protect a woman he wants to learn more about.” Reeceson said, as he held my shoulders.
I blushed softly looking up at him. I could feel myself subconsciously using my powers. I didn’t know where they were directed at as I nodded my head to his request.
In the kitchen, on the small table a pot with dying flowers seemed to have come back to life again.
