They stayed near 2d as the doctors and nurses got him ready. They put him in a hospital gown and put him into a bathroom to shave his hair down to a buzz cut.

Murdoc stood behind him running the blades over his skull and watched mesmerized as the blue hair fell like feathers to the floor at his feet.

2d kept his eyes closed not ready to see.

Murdoc clicked it off once it was done and brushed the loose hair off.

"Ya used to look like an anime character but now you look kinda punk."

2d giggled and opened his eyes awing at his new look. He rubbed the little bristles and smiled brightly.

He turned to Murdoc giving him a kiss which he accepted. He pecked him a few more times before ushering him out so he could shower.

Noodle looked up expecting to see 2d and his new haircut and frowned a little seeing just Murdoc emerge.

"How's it look?'

"Badass."

"Really? Where's he at?"

"Yea, showering, you'll see him in a few."

They waited for him to exit and all erupted into a chorus of oohs and ahhs as he stepped out running his hand over his head shyly.

He sat next to Murdoc as Noodle jumped up and felt 2d's hair. He giggled and pushed her away sliding his hand secretly into Murdoc's covering it by his jacket.

The doctors called for 2d, each one of them giving him a goodbye. Noodle kissed his cheek and Russel patted his back.

Murdoc walked with him to the door kissing the corner of his mouth and taking off his inverted cross and putting it on 2d who stared at him shocked.
"Yew sure?"

"Think of it as good luck."

"Thank you Mudzy." He kissed Murdoc tenderly then wandered to the operation room.

A nurse suggested they go home and get proper rest but was stopped as they all shot him a piercing glare. He swallowed and offered them a room to stay in which they snatched up.

Noodle went to bathroom to fix herself while Russel helped the nurse roll an extra bed into the room. Murdoc sat on the one already there thinking about 2d. Russel ruffled Murdoc's hair and sat next to him.

"You ok man? He's gonna be alright. Never seen you this worked up about him."

"Didn't realize before what I could loose until it almost slipped out my hands. I didn't know how much he meant the world to me."

"You love him."

"I do huh?"

"No, not like how me and Noodle love him," he nudged his arm. "You love him." Murdoc blushed and looked away.
"Shaddup."

"Well its true. If it wasn't true you wouldn't be worrying the way you are. Why are you so afraid? Me and Noodle have known it for the longest, I'm pretty sure 2d knows but could probably like it if you told him."

Murdoc got to his feet.

"I'll tell him now."

"Uh no I meant after the surgery.
Murdoc!"

Murdoc bolted out the room and sped down the hallway with Russel hot on his heels.

The man grabbed Murdoc by the back of his shirt and threw his body down with a surprised look as he literally bounced a couple times.

Murdoc shot back up to his feet rubbing his tail bone whining in pain. Russel grabbed his shirt again before he could take off.

Murdoc let himself be dragged away, the collar slipping up under his chin threatening to choke him and his tounge lolling out of his mouth. He dropped his body like a rag doll and forced Russel to drag his body in a lack luster manner who sighed in annoyance and exhaustion.

They made it back to the room as Noodle came out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around her head and face scrubbed clean of make up, her clothes were rumpled but otherwise clean. She eyed the two trying to piece what happened but shrugged it off leaning over for her jacket and plopping on a bed as Russel set Murdoc down to lay on the floor as he lay next to Noodle.

They watched YouTube as Murdoc pulled himself onto the other bed and grabbed a thin blanket and wrestled around with it unable to sleep as the other two drifted away.

He huffed what could've been the hundredth time and tossed the blanket to the floor and strode to the bathroom turning the knobs on. He slid into the water dipping his head under the water closing his eyes. He felt like he was floating in space. He felt bliss and slipped into it.

He shot up gasping and spitting water like a fountain. Russel leaned over him hands crossed over in his chest in CPR and stared at him bewildered. "You fell asleep. Almost drowned."

Murdoc sputtered and shot more water out coughing and choking. Russel hit his back until he cringed and moved him away. "I'm ok, I'm ok! Fuck." He lay back down on the floor breathing in sweet air. He sighed heavily.

"I don't think I'm completely sane."

"Never were to start off with but I understand. You're not your usual self."

"Do you think he'll be okay?"

"Well I mean he fell out of a tree, hit twice with a car got ate by a whale. I think he's a lot tougher than anybody would think." He chuckled and tossed a towel to Murdoc's nakedness looking up a the ceiling as he said this.

Murdoc put it on and sat on the edge of the tub frowning.

"I don't know how to love right. My mom left when I was little so no real motherlyness, my dad wasn't the greatest guy, neither was my brother; 'was bit of a creep, prolly where I get it from. "

Russel patted his shoulder. "That's why you have us. Give it time knucklehead we'll show you if you put in the effort."

"Heh, okay."

Murdoc got dressed and lay on the bed feeling able to sleep and closed his eyes as it took him over.
