Chara's POV~

He sighs, clearly relieved. "Thank you... so very much. I thought... After all I've done-"

"Sans, if you tried to betray me later on, I would be able to reverse it, and that's the last thing you want, right?" I raise a brow. "I know, Sans, how, behind the scenes, you woke up after each Reset, hoping it to be a new day, but it's not." My eyes flash with sympathy. "I promise you, as long as I don't die, I won't Reset."

He looks at me with this expression... It's strange and sends a chill down my spine. He reaches out, about to touch my cheek, but I tense and step back.

"S-Sorry."

"Shall we go tell Frisk the news? That you're on my side?" I flash a grin as big and genuine as Undyne's, and he nods, dropping the subject. And yet, we don't start walking.

"But, seriously what is this, a war?"

"Sans, she killed hundreds over a simple matter of ethnic cleansing and racial genocide. Really?"

"Jesus, kid. When you put it that way, it makes staring her in the eyes while I break up with her this much easier!"

I laugh. "You gonna play the 'it's not you, it's me' card? Be all nice and shit?" I look him dead in the eye. "Do you think she deserves any mercy?"

"Well, she was... a fixture in my life you know? Her and Papyrus, on that silly play date, and then, out of nowhere, she's a regular guest in my home. And as she's heading towards the Core, I meet up with her, take her into the nice restaurant of MTT Resort, and we talk. Well, I talk. On and on... And before I can register what I'm saying, I speak about the Surface, 'Your journey's almost over, huh? You must really wanna go home. Hey, I know the feeling, buddo.' And what I say next, shocks me to my Core." He winks, so I know the pun is intentional. "'Though... Maybe it's better to take what's given to you. Down here you've already got food, drink, friends... Is what you have to do... really worth it?' I can't believe it. All that wasted energy on a girl who killed my brother. He's the only family I have left, you know? Everyone else is long gone... And she didn't even listen to me, going on with her journey and... I had to phone her while she was up on the Surface in one timeline, did you know that? Phone her to let her know how her friends are doing. How I was doing... No reply."

"So, what was the relationship bit like?"

"Going throughout Snowdin, doing couple things... Holding hands, kissing, sharing a meal at Grillby's, grabbing a nice cream, or reading in the Library, or should I say, Librarby. And," he says, his cheeks a violent shade of sky blue, which I assume is his blush, "Lots of, uhm, hanging out in my bedroom."

I turn as bright a shade of red as humanly possible, from the tips of my ears to my face and nose and neck. Jesus Christ, I think, still embarrassed from what he confided in me. "Sans!! You don't go telling people that!" I clutch my face in my hands, trying to stop my face from becoming a volcano. "Oh, my poor, poor virgin ears..." I shut my eyes, being a bit melodramatic as fake tears come to my eyes.

"Woah, this is a new side of you."

"I suppose it cannot be helped. It figures that little innocent Frisk isn't quite so innocent," I say, flicking away my tears with such grace that one would stop and stare, thinking me an absolutely beautiful, and positively silly little idiot.

"Kid, breaking up with Frisk?" I snap out of it immediately.

"Oh yeah. K," I begin, slapping his shoulder. "As you would say, go get 'em, bud. I'm rooting for ya." I wink to emphasize how his demeanor is nothing short of idiotic.

"That makes me feel a lot better," he mutters, going off to talk to Frisk. I follow, wanting to see how it all plays out.

When we arrive, Frisk practically jumps up, rushing over to her beloved sweetheart. "Sans! What were you doing?"

"Talking with smiles over here." Smiles? I frown. "Hey, Frisk?"

"Yeah?"

"I... Think we should break up."

I very obviously eavesdrop, but they're too far away. All I hear is Frisk's strangled sobs and Sans's calm, hushed voice as he explains, though what I will never know.

Friends try to go over to her, console her with words she'll take for granted, but the bell rings, and a crowd sweeps everyone away. I am not caught off guard, and I hold my ground, letting people push past me. Seriously, we have five minutes for a reason. Someone manages to topple me over, one of the last people, and I fall to the ground with a large thud. "Ow..."

Sans is at my side, his hand held out. "Hey there, smiles."

"If you're going to call me anything, call me Char." I reluctantly place my hand in his, and as he's pulling me up, he winks.

"Whatever you say, buttercup~"

I let go immediately, falling again. "Jesus!" This time I make my feet move, getting up myself.

"Oh! Sorry." Though I think he knows it was my fault.

"See ya, comedian."

"I think I prefer Sansy."

"Well, I think I prefer buttercup." Shit why did I say that. It's too late; I am out the door, heading to my next class.

"Meet me after school!" he calls.
