CHAPTER THREE

The three of us walked as swiftly and nonchalantly away from the wreckage of Mr. Wright's room as we could. Lydia was biting her tongue, as if attempting to avoid screaming out all her questions once more. Devin and I had assured her we'd tell her everything once we got to a safe place. She didn't seem to like being kept in the dark and she was extremely uneasy towards Devin, eyeing him suspiciously when she didn't think he was looking, but she went with it. This was the most cooperative Lydia had ever been with me. I was shocked.

We made it safely back to the dorm. Devin and I told Lydia to start packing, which she did, shocking me further at her obedience. Devin stood at the window watching for monsters- three demigods together out in the mortal world is basically asking for an attack- while I packed my own bags. However, as soon as the door to the dorm was shut behind us we heard people running and yelling about how Mr. Wright's room had been vandalized. The sounds of their yells made me throw my clothes into my black duffel bag faster.

We made sure to make the place look like we hadn't left in a hurry, but as soon as everything was packed and we were good to go, leave in a hurry is exactly what we did. Devin took Lydia to the front of the building to hail a cab while I returned our room keys to the office. I avoided eye contact with everyone and walked as fast as I could, hoping I wasn't attracting any unwanted attention as I was doing so.

I made it safely to the cab where Lydia and Devin sat waiting for me. I slammed the door and, as the driver had clearly already been told our destination, we sped off towards Camp Half Blood. It was only once we were stuck in traffic did I remember my dad and Elizabeth. I'd Iris message them once I got to camp, I told myself.

Lydia seemed to remember that we had some explaining to do, as she slammed the sliding panel between the driver and us shut and turned to face me with an accusing look in her eyes. She looked as angry as ever. I could kind of understand why Dionysus was her father, though that fact still utterly shocked me.

"Alright Violet Wilde, spill. Tell me what's going on right now."

With a grimace, a look at Devin, and a strong sense of deja vu, spill is exactly what I did.

As the cab pulled up to the spot where Devin had told the driver to stop, I continued to shake Lydia gently. I had been doing this for about ten minutes. She seemed to be in shock or something and I didn't know how to pull her out of it. I had never seen Lydia like this in all the time I had known her. The driver stopped the car and pushed the panel that separated us away. He cast a look at Lydia that could only be described as weird.

"Well, we're here," said the driver, "Is she okay?" I put on my prettiest smile while Devin paid the driver and got out of the car, taking Lydia's bag with him.

"She'll be fine," I said, pushing my bag over Lydia's lap and out of the car, where it landed on the ground with a light thud. "Devin? Do you mind helping me get our friend out of the car?"

Devin grabbed Lydia's other arm and pulled on it as gently as he could manage. It took a minute, but we got her out. As soon as she was standing outside the car with Devin and I, the driver sped off, the car door flapping open and shut the whole way.

"Well, we definitely creeped him out," I muttered before turning to Lydia, snapping my fingers in front of her face. "Lydia, wake up!"

She finally blinked. "I'm not asleep, Violet," she said with a glare, "I just...it's not every day you're told that your dad is a Greek god...what'd you say his name was?"
