I gasped, vaguely having a clue of what it could be. But if I wanted to be sure, I had to make sure Evie wouldn't tell anyone.

I coughed, "Evie, I think my dad was building a machine, that could possible disable the watches..." I mumbled.

Evie started at me in disbelief. "So what? You're not going to use it are you? Rose, you could be arrested!"

I laughed, "I'd like to see them try; look Evie I need answers and that machine will probably help me get them, so either you help me or you can go back to your job and pretend nothing ever happened, if you stay, you're clearly going to be a good friend, if not, you get the idea.

Evie sighed. "I'm going to be your friend but please, stay here but don't use that machine, it's a bad idea!" I shook my head, my stubbornness kicking in, "No chance, I'll look at the other things later, I want to see what that machine does!"

I wandered over to it and held out the arm that had the smart-watch on it. I placed it in the machine and waited while Evie reluctantly wandered over to the control panel and flicked the on switch. The machine whirred to life.

I heard Evie press a few buttons and suddenly I felt a needle poke into the watch, I recognised the needle, it was a part of my father's nano-tech technology. After a few moments the watch's screen died down and the watch fell off of my wrist. The normally seamless plastic band part of the watch seemed strange as it lay there in the metal tray it had fallen into.

I gasped, it felt so strange. I started thinking about how I could get answers and nothing happened, no watch beeps.

I grinned, I now and a way to be free, but for how long? I quickly grabbed the watch and put it on my wrist, I called out to Evie. "Quick! Put it back on!"

Evie nodded and pressed a few buttons. This time a few Nano-tech needle pressed into the watch and the watch fixed itself back onto my wrist. The screen flickered to life. It was though nothing had happened.

I grinned and removed my wrist once it was finished. "Evie, it works!"

Evie smiled. "Good, now you need to head home, before it gets to 12. I'm assuming that's when your mother will come back."

I nodded and checked the time, it was 11:00,

I had an hour.

"Thanks Evie! I'll be back tomorrow, see you then?" Evie nodded and waved goodbye, I ran out, almost tripping over the tools outside. I dashed into the lift and pressed the button to take me down to the basement level where the secret entrance was.

The lift doors opened, creaking. I looked out into the narrow hallway, cluttered with unwanted items.

I stepped out, almost slipping over the screwdriver I had tossed aside earlier.

I walked, carefully stepping over the items before reaching the door at the end.

I tried the door handle, luckily it was still open and swung inwards, letting me walk in.

I weaved past the items hidden from sight by a dust sheet.

I reached the hidden door that led to the tunnel, I opened it and hurriedly walked out, jogging towards the tunnel exit.
