Paya x (female) Reader
A/n: Paya does not come in till later, i just wanted to set your backstory sooo yeah i hope you enjoy it!
Y/N POV
I stretched awake to the sound of knocking on my dorm in Castle Town (each guard that doesn't have a family close by gets assigned a dorm in Castel Town of Hyrule) "Wake up Y/N its time for morning training!" Said the large booming voice of Brock, my general.
"Yes general, give me 5 minutes and I'll be showered and ready," I replied, drowsily as I heard the footsteps get quieter. "Can someone please take the stick out of his butt?" I grumbled while getting undressed for the shower. You would figure that since it's the royal guard the dorms would at least be nice. Nope. The room is about 8x8 feet and the bathroom is small. There are 2 small windows and there is a twin sized bed in the corner with a table with two seats about 2 feet away from it. There is a small kitchen area with a cooking pot and sink and a very small cabinet space above. There is a small circular rug on the floor underneath the table.
I left the bathroom wrapped up in a towel and opened my closet. I pulled out some worn hylian trousers and a dark blue grey t-shirt. (Btw, in this you're a masc lesbian) i go back into the bathroom and tie my deep brunette hair into a tight bun. "Ugh, my eyebrow slit is starting to grow back, gotta re-shave it," I said while grabbing my knife and re-cutting the chunk of eyebrow out. "Much better, I should probably head out now before general Brock has me," I said to myself.
Time skip (after training)
"Mmmmm I'm soooo tiredddd, general Brock has us doing way too much sometimesss," i say, very worn out to my best friend Daniel.
"Well maybe you wouldn't be so warned out if you eat breakfast before trading. As you know break-" Daniel was cut off.
"Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I know, I know. I just woke up late this morning. Brock had to knock on my dorm," I said, cutting Daniel off. "Speaking of it, it's time to head home. I guess I'll see you tomorrow at training Daniel, bye," i said, pulling him into a quick hug.
"Bye, Y/N. I'll see you tomorrow," Daniel said while walking to his house. Unlike a lot of us, he lives with his aunt not far away from the training site. He's lucky.
"Y/N. My office. Now!" General Brock yelled. I gulped hard, not knowing what I did. 'Oh hylia what did i do? Am I in trouble? Oh no,' i thought to myself while walking into the general's office. "You are one of my best knights in training. That is why I'm sending you on a mission. Once you complete this mission you will become an official knight of hyrule," Brock said, with a smile on his face while I stood there, dumbfounded.
"W-what? Wait. What type of mission?" I replied, stuttering. I calmed down a bit when I realized I wasn't in trouble.
"You and one other trainee will escort Princess Zelda with Hyrule Champion, Link, to Kokoro Village," Brock said, with a serious look on his face, "you may choose another trainee, you leave at dawn. Don't mess this up. I am counting on you, Y/N," with that i replied,
"I won't fail you. I'm going to choose Daniel for the other knight position. I'll see you at dawn then. Goodbye, General. Have a good night," I ran to daniel's house as fast as my legs could take me. I knocked like a billion times before Daniel opened the door. "I need to come in. There is something really important I need to tell you," i said, excitement rising.
"Ok come on let's go to my room and we can talk about whatever it is there, my aunt is not home by the way," Daniel said while closing the door behind me and leading me up the stairs and into the attic where his room is at.
Time skip (after explaining)
"Wait so let me get this straight. So WE, US are going to ESCORT PRINCESS ZELDA?! And on top of that after we do, WE GET TO BE KNIGHTS?!?! How did we score this high? When were WE this important I'm so excited, i hope we dont mess this up!" Daniel basically screamed out with excitement.
"AND Champion Link will be there too, I heard he's gay, and single. I bet he's cuteeee, perfect for you Daniel!" I said with a teasing tone in my voice.
"Yeah, well Zelda will be there too, i heard she's bi soooo," Daniel said looking at me as payback for what i just said.
"I don't think Zelda is my type to be honest. I heard she's very kind and respectful but I don't think we would be the best couple anyway, while we are on this topic. I hope I find a nice, pretty girl on this trip. The girls in Kokoro are said to be very beautiful," i said with a thoughtful tone in my voice.
"Hey, it's getting late, we need lots of sleep for the next couple days ahead. You should go home and i'll see you and General in the morning in front of the castle," Daniel said with his hand on my shoulder with a soft look on his face.
"Ok Dan, i will see you tomorrow. I love you, bestie. I can't wait for the adventure that awaits for us," I replied with a smile as I kissed Dan on the forehead. "For the adventure that awaits for us.." I whispered under my breath while I looked at the night sky on the way to my dorm building.
Time Skip (dawn)
I groaned awake as I looked out the window. It was still dark. Thank hylia, I have enough time to eat and get ready. I got up, stretching. 'Oh, I slept in my clothes. Oops haha' I thought to myself as I undressed. I can keep my pants out to wear again but I'll get out a new shirt. After the shower and getting dressed, I looked outside. I think i have enough time to eat this morning. Thank hylia. I gathered mushrooms and eggs to make an omelette. While it was cooking I packed a quick bag with enough supplies to last me for a couple days. 'Alright world, throw whatever you have at me. I'm ready.' I thought as I tucked my sword into my belt. I shoved the food into my mouth and put my bag on and ran outside to the stables at the side of the building.
"Hey H/N, we are going on an adventure for a while. Are you excited?!" I said enthusiastically while packing H/N up. "Alright let's go to the front of the castle to meet up with everyone! Ya!" With that, H/N took off at a trot and it took maybe five minutes at most to get there. When i got there, the general was speaking to Zelda and Link while Daniel was sitting on the steps of the castle, waiting for me.
"Hey! Finally you showed up!" Daniel shouted to me as I came closer. I hopped off and pulled him into a hug. "I can't wait for this to start," he whispered to me.
"I know right?!" I whisper yelled back.
"Alright. Princess Zelda, Link, this is Y/N and Daniel. They are very close friends and they are very kind. But if they are rude to you at any point, don't be afraid to let me know when you guys get back," he said eyeing us.
"Hello there, Y/N and Daniel. I understand that if you do a good job you will become true knights. I will do my best to make that easy for you to achieve," Zelda said while holding out her hand to shake mine and Dan's.
"It is very nice to meet you Zelda. I am glad that you are willing to help me and Dan out but you can just sit back and relax. We got this!" I said while shaking her hand.
"Nice to meet you! As you know I'm Daniel but you can call me Dan. I am at your service," dan said while shaking Zelda's hand.
"This is Link, I'm sure you already know. But he is mute. When he woke up from his sleep, he not only lost his memories but his speech too. He speaks sign language," Zelda said while introducing Link.
"hello Y/N, Dan. I'm sorry if you do not understand me," LInk signed, sheepishly.
"I understand sign language, I grew up using it, for my grandmother was deaf," Dan said to Link while blushing a little.
"Oooooouuu, something's going on hereee," i whispered into Dan's ear while elbowing him.
"Ok, now that introductions are done, I'm going back to camp to continue work. Have fun and protect Zelda with your life. Her life is more important than yours. Do not forget that, bye now," General Brock said with a mixture of softness and seriousness on his face.
"Yes sir, thank you, sir," me and Dan said at the same time.
time skip (on the road)
Zelda was sitting in the carriage while I was driving. Link and Dan were walking behind the carriage talking. 'Probably flirting' I thought to myself while rolling my eyes and smiling. "How long is the estimated wait till we get there?" Zelda asked after tapping on my shoulder.
"We will get there tomorrow. We will have to stay the night at a stable or if we cannot find one, on the road. Which one would you prefer?" I asked while looking back at Zelda with a smile on my face.
"I know this may sound weird but i prefer to sleep on the road with a nice little fire, looking at the stars. I'm not sure why I prefer that other than a nice comfy bed but I think it's something to do with the fact that I'm so used to all my duties and fancy items and beds so when it comes to something like that it feels more at home and better i guess..." Zelda trailed off. She seemed to be lost in thought so I didn't bother to say something to distract her. I completely understand what she was saying though.
I mean i dont go through the same things she does but I understand her love for the outdoors. You can't really make outdoors fancy or "high quality" outdoors. Maybe Zelda is more than just a pretty face... i realized i was blushing 'Y/N get a hold of yourself! She would never fall for someone like you. Besides she's a Princess and I'm not even a knight yet...' i thought to myself while slapping myself in the face a couple times to get me out of it.
"Hey, Y/N?" I heard Zelda's voice behind me.
"Yes, Zelda? You alright?" I asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I was just wondering, what's your sexuality?" Zelda asked sheepishly, her blush was more pink than usual.
"U-uh...I'm lesbian, w-why do you ask?" I stuttered, I was nervous.
"Oh, sorry if that made you uncomfortable... i was just asking because i think you're cute! You got a girlfriend?" Zelda aske, her face red as a hearty radish.
"Uhhhhh, no? I'm sorry I'm just super nervous. Not uncomfortable though!" I said really fast, trying not to pass out. "Oh hey! It's getting late, let's look for a place nearby to uh set up camp for a while.." i said, changing the subject because it was getting to be too much for my awkward self.
"Good idea Y/N! I'll tell the boys to go look for somewhere while we gather stuff for dinner!" Zelda said cheerfully before turning around to talk to the boys. "Ok. They are heading off, let's stop the cart and look for food," Zelda said while I stopped the car and went inside to grab my sword and shield for protection.
time skip (dinner)
"Soooo, what have you two been doing all day?" I said with a sly smile on my face aiming the question at Link and Dan. Both of their faces were as red as hearty radishes.
"Y-yeah well what have YOU two been doing!" Dan said clearly trying to get the topic away from him and Link.
"Let's just say we were all doing basically the same thing," Zelda said which made all of us blush and laugh. Me and Zelda had found a stream with some hylian bass in it. We roasted them in the small fire Link made. The boys were sitting close and Zelda's head was on my shoulder as we listened to a ghost story Dan was telling.
"And then he was never seen again. Legends say that there is still a pack of lifalzos wandering these woods to this day." Dan said in a spooky tone while cackling. Link snuggled close to Dan whimpering a little. Zelda also held on tighter to my waist. I wasn't too affected by the story, besides there is no such thing as a pack of lifalzos in woods.
"Alright shows over people, time for bed. Let's get in our sleeping bags now," i said while digging through the bags for sleeping bags. "Hylia please kill me now," I thought aloud as I could only find two, large sleeping bags.
"Oh ummm, I'm sorry I forgot to pack extras for you two... the boys can share one and we can share one i guess," Zelda said and I swear the moment she stopped talking all of us gulped nervously. As we changed into our pajamas I got into Zelda and I's sleeping bag. She came to the sleeping bag wearing a simple plain white nightgown. She crawled in. ' I should be loving this right now... I mean I'm sleeping next to a cute princess and yet I feel like I should be doing this with another girl. I feel like there is someone waiting for me...' i sighed and eventually fell asleep to the soft sound of the restless crickets chirping.
Time skip (almost there)
"Hey this map says we are almost there!" I said shouting loud enough so the boys in the back could hear me.
"Y/N WATCH OUT!" Zelda screamed but before I could look at what she was pointing at, a searing pain went through my arm and I started convulsing. I hit the ground with a thud, I was electrocuted. Everything went black from the pain. Zelda was on the ground of the wagon,hiding. The boys already rushed off to defeat the 7 lifalzos that attacked us.
I opened my eyes a few seconds later and I saw the scaly feet of the lifalzo standing in front of me. But i thought that lifalzos didn't go around these parts... I didn't have time to think because I looked up to see the gross creature lifting its bow, it released. Before I knew it, I was convulsing again. I was just shot and electrocuted twice.
I staggered up and pulled my sword out with my non-injured hand. The arrow in my side hurt worse than the one in my arm but I had to protect Zelda. Her life is more important than mine. The boys were busy with other lifalzos but as I was about to kill the lifalzo with the bow, one with a sword snuck up behind me. It was impaled. I looked down as everything went numb. The tip of the blade was poking out of my chest. "Y/N!!" I heard Dan cry out as he ran to help me as Link killed the lifalzo.
"I-I'm sorry, I failed Zelda.." I whispered out as everything went black.
Time skip (in Kokoro)
Paya's POV
I knew that Zelda was visiting for my grandmother's funeral but I didn't know that she would show up like that... she ran into the village screaming "HELP ME! THEY ARE HURT HYLIA PLEASE HELP! HELP" everyone freaked out and within seconds i was helping zelda with her wounds as Link and an unknown boy ran in with a girl covered in blood and arrows were sticking out of her.
"Take her into my house. Now!" I shouted at the two boys as they raced up the steps and into the house. I slung Zelda's arm over my shoulders and we quickly went up the steps to help with the other three. Zelda seemed to be fine other than a couple scrapes and a twisted ankle. The blood on her was not hers, I assumed it was the other girl's. We got into the house and they set up "beds" using the cushions that were on the ground.
Zelda was sobbing and saying things like "my fault, i killed her. I failed her. She's dead because of me," i didn't know what to say so i kinda just let her get it out. I rushed up to my room to grab the supplies for the injured.
"Ok I'm going to treat the girl's wound soon. What's her name?" I asked.
"Y/N, and my name is Daniel," the boy said, wincing in pain as Link treated a deep cut on his arm. I turned back to the girl and I took off her shirt to where she was only wearing her bra. It kinda looked like she was dead but when i checked her neck there was a slight pulse.
"She's alive, what happened to her?" I asked while trying to stop the bleeding in the wound on her chest.
"We were attacked by lifalzos. She got hit by two shock arrows. One in her arm and one in her side," Daniel said. I looked over at Zelda who was sobbing, refusing treatment until Y/N was treated. I looked at the blackened skin around the arrows that was now visible since the blood was all cleaned off. Daniel was treating an arrow wound on Link's back. When he took it out with one swift movement, Link screamed out in pain.
I did the same to Y/N's arrow wounds. I heard a soft grunt when I pulled the arrow out of her side and one when I pulled one out of her arm. I poured a healing potion into her mouth while propping her head up. "Hey, she's kinda cute," I thought, I shook my head to get it out of my head. "Now that i think of it, i was kinda rude... i should apologize to Daniel and Link for yelling at them and for asking them questions so rudely," i thought, kinda feeling guilty now. I checked the wounds she had now. The stab wound on her chest was now scabbed up and the blackened skin around the arrow wounds was now just pink. The arrow wounds themselves were scars now. Thank hylia for healing potions. Though she won't be able to move around and get back to her normal everyday activity, she will be ok. And that's what matters.
"Zelda, she is ok now. Will you accept treatment?" I asked with my hand on her shoulder, with a kind tone.
"Yes. Thank you very much, all i need is a potion and i will be ok," Zelda said sorrowfully. I turned around to grab three potions for Zelda, Daniel and Link and passed them out. I looked over to where grandmother used to sit, and started crying. If she was here she would've been better at helping them, she would've been faster and more confident. I'm so useless. I can't even get a girlfriend for hylia's sake! I'm too nervous to even talk to anyone and the girls in my village think I'm weird. By this point I was sobbing in front of my grandmother's seat and the others were starting to notice.
Link sat next to me and cried too. I know that he missed grandmother too. She helped her through his journey to defeat Gannon. That was also when i was in the closet and i was trying to convince myself that I liked guys and when he showed up it was my perfect chance to prove myself that guys were attractive."I-I mean Link is not NOT attractive but I'm just not attracted to him," i shook my head to clear it. I guess at some point without noticing, Zelda came and sat on my other side and shed a few tears. I got up and brushed myself off, "I'm sorry for that... i just miss her and after this stressful situation, i guess i j-just kinda lost it. Heh..." i said with the last couple of tears leaving.
Zelda got up too "No need to apologize, for we all miss her. She was always so kind to me before the calamity," Zelda explained.
"Thank you Zelda," I said before embracing her in a hug.
"Wh- what's going on?" I heard a voice mumble behind us.
"Y/N!" Zelda shouted in glee before hugging her.
"Be careful! Don't want to reopen the stab wound!" I cautioned Zelda but it was too late, for Zelda had already had her wrapped up in a hug.
"Oops... heh, how are you feeling, Y/N?" Zelda asked Y/N before rubbing her thumb across the back of Y/N's hand. Then, Y/N removed her hand from Zelda's grasp carefully so that Zelda didn't take offense. I'm not sure why, but i felt relieved for some reason when she did that... 'No Paya, calm down, besides, you don't even know her personality yet. It's just another pretty face. Don't get phased,' I thought while checking the pretty girl's wounds.
"I'm feeling ok, thank you for asking Zelda. Are we in the village?" Y/N asked Zelda, eyeing me suspiciously.
"Yes, we have made it to our destination. Y/N, this is Paya, she is a very kind person," Zelda said while gesturing to me. Y/N looked over at me with beautiful, honey brown eyes. I couldn't help but fluster up.
"H-hi, I hope I helped. You a-a-are very p-pretty," i stuttered out 'hylia i can't believe i just called her pretty!' I looked over to Zelda, she had a hint of anger in her eyes... 'huh... oh no! Is there something going on between them and I just intervened?!' I came to that realization almost immediately after I looked over to Zelda.
A/N word count 3,808 words. It's not finished yet though.... sorry for it being sooooooo long! I just wanted to make it long enough for it not to be like 2 sentences and i guess i got a little carried away... hehe
