your povi'm sitting in my room, looking at my scrapbook i made last year at hogwarts. i turn the page to a group picture of hermione, ron, harry and i. i smile as i see us hugging and laughing. i miss that. i've been writing with ron and hermione all summer, but i haven't heard anything from harry.. i'm worried about him. i know his aunt and uncle are super anti-magic, but to not even allow him to write? they must be crazy. just then, my house-elf, pilly, walks into my room.
"hello master (y/n)." she says. i turn to her.
"pilly, how many times have i told you to just call me (y/n)?" i remind her. i hate when she calls me master. i would have tried to free her a long time ago if it weren't for my father. he won't allow me, no matter how many times i tell him it's wrong to keep pilly here like a slave. he just say it's 'her purpose' which sounds like a load of crap to me.
"master (f/n) [your fathers name] says pilly is to address you properly." she replies. i roll my eyes. of course he did.
"never mind what he says. i say you can call me whatever you'd like." i tell pilly. she smiles.
"pilly is here to see if (y/n) has any dirty laundry." pilly says.
"pilly, i am perfectly capable of doing my own laundry, i'm not going to make you do it for me." i say to her.
"oh, alright. thank you, (y/n)." pilly says before leaving my room. i know father won't be happy that i won't allow pilly to do any work for me, but i honestly couldn't care less what he thinks. he wasn't exactly welcoming when he found out i had been sorted into gryffindor, he said it was a 'shame to our family', and he's never apologized..
~time skip~
i'm in diagon ally alone, shopping for the new school year. usually my father would join me, but he's busy at work.. like always. i walk into flourish and blotts, and i see.. hermione! i run over to her.
"hermione!" i call out. she turns and see me, then gives me a big hug.
"(y/n)! it's good to see you!" she says. hermione is taller than me now, and her hair is less bushy.
"hey (y/n)." i hear a familiar voice say from behind me. i turn and see my favorite redhead. he grew at least 3 more inches, he towers over me.
"ron!" i exclaim, giving him a hug as well. i see harry from over his shoulder. i pull away.
"hey harry. how have you been? you haven't written all summer!" i say to him. harry grew as well, and his hair got a lot longer.
"i wasn't allowed. i missed you, though." he replies with a smile. i hug him too. just then, a short plump women with hair the same color as ron's rushes over to us.
"Oh, Harry! Thank goodness! We'd hoped you'd only gone one grate too far..." she says to harry. her eyes turn to me.
"you must be (y/n), correct?" she says warmly. i nod my head. "i'm mrs. weasley, ron's mother. i've heard so much about you! ron talks about you nonstop." she says. i turn to ron, with one eyebrow raised.
"mum!" he says, his cheeks slightly pink. suddenly, someone in the front of the store speaks.
"Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Gilderoy Lockhart." they say before stepping aside.
"Ah! Here he is!" mrs. weasley says excitedly.
"Mum fancies him." ron whispers to us. i try not to laugh. a man with blonde hair walks to the front of the room. oh no, i know who this idiot is. some guy with a camera try's to push us out of the way.
"Make way there. Please! Let me by, madam. Thank you. Excuse me, little girl. This is for the Daily Prophet." the man with the camera says. lockheart smiles, but then his eyes fall on harry.
"It can't be- Harry Potter?" he says. the photographer turns and grabs harry.
"Harry Potter! Excuse me, madam." he says, putting harry next to lockheart.
"Nice big smile, Harry. Together you and I rate the front page! Ladies and gentlemen, what an extraordinary moment this is. When young Harry stepped into Flourish and Blotts this morning to purchase my autobiography, Magical Me,... which, incidentally is currently celebrating its 27th week atop the Daily Prophet bestseller list, he had no idea that he would, in fact, be leaving... with my entire collected works, free of charge." lockheart says. i roll my eyes. harry look uncomfortable as he walks back over to us with all his new books. mrs. weasley takes the. from him eagerly.
"harry, now you give me those, and I'll get them signed. All of you wait outside." she says.
i try to walk outside with harry, ron and hermione, but someone stands in my way. i look up to see a smug blonde wizard smirking at me. malfoy. he's taller, but he still has that same slicked back hairstyle. i don't know who told him that looked good.."move, malfoy." say, glaring at him. he rolls his eyes. harry walks over.
"I'll bet you loved that, didn't you, Potter? Famous Harry Potter! Can't even go into a bookshop without making the front page." draco teases. harry's about to say something, but then ron's little sister, ginny, speaks up.
"Leave him alone." she says. draco snickers.
"Oh look, Potter. You've got yourself a girlfriend." draco says. then a tall, blonde wizard that looks like draco struts over.
"Now, now Draco, play nicely. Mr. Potter... Lucius Malfoy. We meet at last. Forgive me, your scar is legend, as, of course, is the wizard who gave it to you." he says. harry stares at him angrily.
"Voldemort killed my parents. He was nothing more than a murderer." harry says.
"Hmm. You must be very brave, to mention his name...or very foolish." lucius replies.
"Fear of a name only increase fear of the thing itself."i say to him. lucius turns to face me.
"And you must be... Miss (l/n). Yes, Draco's told me all about you," i glance at draco, who quickly looks to the ground. "and your father.. a very important man in the ministry," i nod. "he must be disappointed you aren't in slytherin. what a waste." he says before his eyes fall on ron, who is standing next to me.
"Let me see...red hair... vacant expressions... tatty second hand book. You must be the Weasleys." he says to ron and ginny. a man who i guess is ron's father walks out of the store.
"Children, it's mad in here! Let's go outside." he says, then he turns to see lucius.
"Well, well, well. Weasley senior." lucius says to him.
"Lucius." he responds, his voice full of disdain.
"Busy time at the Ministry, Arthur, all those extra raids? I do hope they're paying you overtime, but judging by the state of this," lucius says, picking up one of ginny's books. "I'd say not. What's the use in being a disgrace to the name of wizard if they don't even pay you well for it?"
"We have a very different idea about what disgraces the name of wizard, Malfoy." mr. weasley answers.
"Clearly. Associating with Muggles... and I thought your family could sink no lower. I'll see you at work." lucius says, strutting away. draco gives everyone a disgusted glance before following his father.
"See you at school." he says quietly to me. what was that about? anyway, my father gave me extra money to get myself a pet, i guess he felt bad for not being able to come with me. i wave goodbye to my friends as i walk into a store. i look around at all the different animals, i think i'm going to get a cat. i don't really like toads, and my father already has a couple owls. my eyes fall onto an all black kitten with white ears and bright green eyes. aww. i put my finger through the cage and it puts it's paw on it. i smile. i want this one.
