It was finally the end of 5th period and my heart sank. I was so excited to see her today, and my feelings have felt a bit different over the past few weeks. This day just felt more exciting. During this time, I quickly made my way over near the cafeteria entrance and waited for Yves. We usually walk inside the cafeteria together and eat lunch together. So I stood next to the wall just waiting. I look down at the ground, then glance at the ceiling, while the seas of people around me chattered, just the usual. I then look behind me, and there she is. She smirked at me as she walked closer, and her outfit looked amazing. She tucks a piece of hair behind her ear, then looks at me straight in the eyes. "Hi y/n! Quick let's walk together!" She said cheerfully, as she touched my shoulder and led me in the cafeteria.
We sat down at our designated table, and ate our lunches. I look over at Yves and just admire her beauty. I got so distracted that I lost focus on eating. Yves looks off to her right, then sees Jinsoul approaching us, her best friend. She sits down next to Yves and unpacks her lunchbox. "Wow I love your hair today." Said Jinsoul. She then turns to me, as she takes a sip from her water bottle. "Hi y/n! You seem very happy today." She said with a smirk. I looked at her for a bit and gave her a quick bright smile, then turned my attention to Yves. "So I've noticed you two have been hanging out a lot more, are y'all, you know." Jinsoul said while giggling, and making goofy hand gestures. Yves gives her a funny look, while I awkwardly look down, hiding my red face. The two of us just awkwardly laugh then we exchange glances at each other. I felt her stare into my heart. "I have to use the restroom real quick, I'll be fast." Said Yves, as she stood up and slung her bag over her shoulder. She scuttles off then Jinsoul moves a seat over next to me. "So how are you two doing?" She asked while she stared into my soul. My face turned more red as I look off to the side. "We're doing fine I guess, I mean there are times she seems interested and times that she's not." I said nervously as I fidgeted with my hands. "You'll be fine y/n, just be straightforward and direct, I know her. She likes people who are to the point you know?" She replied. "I'm just scared of rejection, I mean what should I do? You give the best advice so you're the one I look up to." I said while looking down at the table. "Hey relax dude, be careful not to rush things, patience is very important when it comes to crushes like this. You have to move slow." Jinsoul replied. I then began to nervously shake a little, then Jinsoul grabs my shoulder. "Hey, you got this, I'll be cheering you on." She said as she smirked and patted my back.
The bell rung one last time before school ended for the day. I walk outside the doors then head straight to my usual walking path back home. I make my way down near the intersection, and to my surprise, Yves was there waiting. She stood around then noticed me coming up. "Are you walking this way too?" She asked as she fixed her hair. "Yeah, I walk everyday." I replied nervously. "You wanna walk together?" I asked. I felt the hesitation in my voice as my heart pumped fast. Yves then gives me a nod with a little smirk and then we were off. "Thank you for walking with me, it gets boring when you're alone." Yves said. I awkwardly glanced at her then look down at my feet as we moved. "I never see you walking." I replied shakily. We then walk on and end up at an apartment complex. "Well, this is where I'm headed, I'll see you tomorrow Yves." I said. "Wait but I live here too." She replied. My eyes widened as my heart sank into my stomach. Did I hear that correctly? I then looked at her, trying to cover my shock. "That's very interesting, I had no idea you lived here." I said nervously. The awkward silence filled in for a bit before Yves beckoned me into the complex. "Follow me, I'll show you where my building is." She said happily. We walked together into a building that was directly next to mine, and climbed a flight of stairs. We reached the third floor then Yves points to a door to her left. "That's me." She said. Yves then walks over to her door, then turns to me. "I'll see you tomorrow y/n, thank you for walking with me!" She said cheerfully as she waved and entered her apartment. I awkwardly waved back while my heart sank again. I still couldn't believe how close we are in this city, out of all places, I'm still surprised yet I'm happy, because she's closer to me more than ever.
I entered my apartment then a thought entered my head: a handwritten letter. I drop my bags near my couch then rush to my room. I grab my nearest pencil and rip a piece of paper from my notebook. I then thought for a moment, thinking of a letter that is not too clingy but not too cheesy. I then began writing after a thought came up.
After an hour or so, I finally finished. I read the paper over multiple times to ensure no grammatical mistakes were made. I then exit my apartment building and jog to Yves' building. I run up near her door, while holding the letter with my shaking hands. I looked at it one more time before folding it up and approaching her door. Without hesitation, I place the letter on top of the doorknob, leaning against the doorframe. I then return to my building, with my heart beating out of my chest.
