The sun had just risen in the west, falling into the lap of the grasslands, turning the green of it's grass into a beautiful amber yellow to look at. Everything there was quiet. The tall, coarse trees that made up the dense, green forest that surrounded these meadows greeted the flowers and animals that were more early risers, still providing them with a great shade that hid them from the rays of the sun. Although, not everyone was enjoying this beautiful and fresh morning. In the middle of the fields, more or less on the end of it, a large human-made structure loomed over this clearing. The men who lived in this place were always busy, either training or serving the leader who led this army.
A young adult, approximately thirty-one years old, was in the office of this place. His skin was white with a tan that showed that he had been working long hours in the sun. His chocolate brown hair was held up in a way that even God couldn't explain. His eyes were glued to the paper in front of him, although it couldn't be said that he had eyes exactly. Where these vital organs for sight should be, they were replaced by voids that were as black as the night, with scars and burn marks around them. To make his look even more threatening - or emo in this case -, he wore piercings on both ears, highlighting the cross that hung from his right ear.
He kept concentrating on the paperwork, ignoring the warmth his leader suit gave him. He was about to continue his work by the time a soft knock from the large oak double door came to his ears. He looked up from the paper and quickly put on his special glasses. They didn't help him to see better! They only helped him to differentiate better the faces in front of him from a certain distance. They also served to hide his scars, as well as his dark eyes. He didn't like being seen without them. The last soldier that saw him without them ended up being the food of the monsters that he kept in his laboratories. Literally.
After a few seconds of cleaning up a bit himself and putting the glasses on his face, he raised his voice and ushered the soldier who came to bother him. A boy in his early twenties peeked through the doors, looking nervous. He approached the leader's desk, leaving ten steps away from it. Thomas looked at him amused. It was funny to him to see the younger cadets so submissive to him. Got damn. They would even kiss the bottom of his shoe to avoid being eaten by vultures!
With a face of nervousness and fear, the boy cleared his throat and then proceeded to tell the news to his leader.
- Sir, things are already prepared for your departure. Yanov and I have taken care that all your luggage is in the car by now. - Thomas stared at him with a surprised face. He expected to tell him that the main canteen had turned into a flying food battlefield again or that one of their planes had collided with an cloudberg. But no. And the best of all, the soldiers from another army had prepared it for him. Cool.
- Okay, Yuu. You can now retire.
The aforementioned said goodbye to the leader and left the room at a fast pace. The dark-eyed man just sighed in relief knowing that he wouldn't have to be behind his soldiers to get things done for him and stared the room he was in.
The walls were painted in a beautiful royal blue along with the ceiling covered in the cold black color that reminded him so much of his eyes. On the wooden floor, a small checkered carpet made the environment a little more comfortable. In front of him was his desk with a pile of signed and to-be signed papers, a chess-patterned coffee mug, a small gold plaque that read "Leader Thomas. H" and a small photo lying face down. He reached out his arm to pick up the small object and held it in his hands.
Four boys of different heights were smiling at the camera, except for a slightly chubby boy and other with a typical military necklace that appear on the tipical army movies. Very delicately he ran his thumb over the two boys on the right, hugging each other showing their affection. His eyes moistened a little as he remembered all the beautiful moments he had spent with his lover. Realising this and blinking his eyes a couple of times to remove the sensation of watered eyes, he put the photo down again and continued looking at the decoration of his office. He turned the chair one hundred and eighty degrees so he could look at the large glass that overlooked the training ground. He got up from the comfortable leather chair and walked over to it. Soldiers were here and there, all doing their duties and respective training.
