It was a cool December 15 at Camp Half Blood, and I was getting ready for dinner, after working on my projects. When I am just about to walk out of the armory, Percy walks in.
"Hey Leo, watcha doing there?" Percy asked.

"Oh nothing much I answer, just cleaning up" I answer back.

"Oh good! Because there are five new campers who have just arrived, and I need some extra hands." Percy says.

"I'll make sure to give them the Leo charm to make them feel welcome, if you know what I mean. In case there are any hotties waiting on me."

"Sure." Percy replies.

As we walk into the dining pavilion, I notice this beautiful girl talking to Chiron, I guess she's getting the tour. I don't recognize her so she's probably a new camper. I start to make my way over but then someone blows the horn calling us to dinner, I guess I'll have wait to make my move. Percy waves then walks over to his table.

I sit down at the Hephaestus table and hope that girl doesn't sit down next to me. That would be the most awkward thing ever, falling in love with my half-sister. Gross! I don't even want to think about it. Luckily for me she's still unclaimed and sits at the Unclaimed table, next to the marble column house.

When I get my food, I don't even touch it I just stare at this girl the whole time. Her shiny blonde hair, perfect complexion, and what I liked the most her deep brown eyes. Sitting next to her what's seems is her best friend because she's talking so much to her. This girl was also cute but I was more interested in the the blonde than brunette types.

As I stare I start to think she's out of my league, but when it's time to sacrifice part of our plates I get my confidence back. Time to work that Leo charm!!!! I think, as I walk over to the fire. I finally make eye contact with her, and I wink. She smiles! I'm getting somewhere, but then her friend shoots me a glare and now my ego has gone down.

When dinner is over and before she gets up I confidently stroll over. I start to get a little nervous because she's so hot and all my hands start to flame up. Oh yeah, whenever I get real nervous my hands they start to flame up, that's because I'm a son of Hephaestus. Only his children have the power to wield fire. I lean against the marble column and start up conversation.

"Hey guys, where are you from?" I ask.

"St. Paul, Minnesota" the hot girl
answers.

"Oh cool, do you like the snow?"

"Not really," she answers "this time of year gets really chaotic, with all the snow blowers every where. And the daily rush."

What the heck are snow blowers?! They sound like weird little trolls that clean up everything, by eating snow and then blowing it out. Out of my own stupid curiosity I ask. I probably sound like an idiot.

"Um, what the heck are snow blowers?"
They both giggle which is a good sign, that means my charm is working to my surprise.

"Snow blowers are things that you push around and it blows the snow out of the way so that you can walk easily on the sidewalk." Then she giggles some more.

"You 're cute. What's your name?"
I start to blush, "it's Leo, what's your name?"

"Kari and this is Bree, where are you from?"

"New Mexico, that's why I haven't seen any snow blowers. I'm also a son of Hephaestus."

Suddenly, I hear a loud cracking noise as I answer and turn my head toward the marble column that I'm leaning against. It's cracking in half and starts tipping over towards Kari.
"Oh no! Get out of the way!" I yell.
Both of the girls scream, I jump over the table and get to the side. As the marble house comes down everyone is silent and watches.

Kari gets out of the way just in time barely missing her. Smooth move Leo, you almost crushed the girl you're crushing on literally! Luckily everyone got out of the way in time. For a minute the dining pavilion is completely silent and I just stare at the marble house with my mouth open.

"Leo Valdez!!!" Chiron shouts at the top of his lungs. "Get over here right this instant!!! The rest of you go to the fire pit."
I awkwardly walk over to where Chiron is sitting and sit down to wait for everyone to get around the camp fire. Great, now Kari thinks I'm a dork. Crap. Once everyone gets settled down Chiron asks me calmly, "Leo, what did you do to the marble house?"

I try to answer back but when it comes out of my mouth I sound like a dying cat, and the other campers giggle.
"Uh, I was just tal-*voice crack*-king, to some girls at the unclaimed table and I guess I leaned up against the marble column and... Yeah." I answer.

"Was it the fire element again?"

"Uh, yeah."

"Did you do it on purpose?"

"No. But in my defense that marble house was pretty ugly anyway. I mean who even likes Hera?"

Chiron sighed and looked over at Annabeth, who had a confused look on her face.

"Um, Chiron? Isn't the camp invincible to the half bloods who aren't apart of the big three? Aren't the elements protecting the camp?" She asked.

"Hmmmmm.... You're right Annabeth, something must be wrong. Only Percy, Nico or Jason could cause something like this. There must be something wrong with the elements."

Even though Annabeth can be really annoying sometimes, constantly spouting facts about how it's such an honor to be rebuilding Mount Olympus she can be really helpful sometimes, thank the gods she was here or I would be cleaning the bathrooms for months.

"Chiron, remember when Percy and I went to Typhon's volcano? That's most likely where the elements were, but Typhon didn't know. When the Volcano had exploded the elements were out of the hands of a godly being. They must've moved which is why Leo could cause this."

"Hey it's not my fault, you said it's Typhon's fault." I protest.

"Leo it's still your fault though. Now we have to find the elements. Thanks Leo." She replied.

I take that back about Annabeth, she is NOT helpful just annoying.
