Chapter 25: Difficulties
Could I really do this? I was sweating now, but I knew I'd be cold in a few minutes. My feet were swelling. I was constantly nauseated, but always hungry.
I looked up at my ceiling and ran my hand over my swelling belly.
"You better hurry up because this hurts like hell." I muttered. "What do you wanna be named, baby? You're a Lange, so I know you're gonna be an amazing person, so we gotta name you something that's meaningful. Not just a stupid random name."
"You're gonna be a Lange too." My mother breathed. "Soon. We have the wedding planned. In May. I did May because that was the month you and Kyle started dating. Is that okay?"
"Yeah. I'm just nervous. I mean, the baby, the wedding."
"Calm down. Nerves aren't good for the baby."
"I-I don't know what to do. What if I can't do this?"
"You can. I know you can. You're my strong girl and she'll be yours."
---
"Mom, when's my baby shower?" I questioned.
"Umm... didn't plan one yet. When do you want it to be?"
"Soon."
"Alright. Sit down. You look exhausted. I'll make you something to eat."
I smiled gently at her and laid down and took a deep breath.
"Vi?" Kyle asked as he walked into the room. "You alright?"
"Yeah. Tired."
"Cold?"
I nodded and he pulled a blanket over me, kissing my forehead.
"Hungry?"
"Mom's got it." I mumbled.
"Aww, come on! That's my job."
"No. You need to relax too. You've been out buying shit all week. What do you want to eat, Kyle?"
"You really don't have to-" Kyle began.
"Just sit down and answer me."
"Whatever you're making Vi."
"Alright."
"Thank you." Kyle and I called in synch.
"Anytime. Now rest."
Kyle held my hand and sat down next to me. I rested my head on his shoulder. We watched some TV, ate, and then eventually fell asleep.
