Epilogue

"Violet, honey, I'm gonna need you to push." The doctor ordered. "Push, honey, push."

It was December 9. 7:14 am. Kyle was at my side, holding my hand, encouraging me.

"You're doing great, baby." He continued.

"Just one more big push." The doctor smiled.

I pushed as hard as I could, sweat pouring down my face and gasped as I heard the cry of a baby.

Oh my God. I just gave birth. After 9 hours of labor and an epidural, I finally had a baby girl.

"Would you like to hold her, Ms. Carter?"

I nodded.

They placed a beatific little baby girl in my hands.

She was strikingly beautiful. I couldn't hold back my tears.

"What should we name her?" I wondered.

"Winter." Kyle breathed.

"Winter? Why?"

"Well, this was the day you woke up from your coma and I was contemplating what my favorite season was while you were in your coma and I figured winter was, because that was the day I got to see your eyes open again. So I wanna name her Winter."

I grinned. "That's beautiful. Winter Rayne Lange. I like that. How about you?"

"It's pretty. Original."

"Kyle." I breathed.

"Violet.

"I love you." My breath caught in my throat.

"I love you too. We have a family now. Our own little family. Just, Vi..." Tears sprung in his eyes. "I don't ever wanna lose you."

"You won't. I swear. We're gonna be together. Forever?"

"Forever. Always."

I looked into his eyes. His beautiful bright eyes, worn down with exhaustion, but also woken up with the excitement of a new born child.

It may seem like my story, our story, is over, but it isn't. Just the written part. We will live on, in the hearts of others, and our own.

I'm happy that I get to live on in Kyle's heart and he in mine.

As I complete my story, I realize that he completes me.
