Kai sprung up to a scream coming from Lloyd's room. "Guys...did you hear that?" Kai said rubbing the back of his head. He scanned the room to see if the others were awake so they could check on Lloyd, but Jay, Zane and Cole all slept peacefully in their separate beds, leaving Kai to get up and walk to Lloyd's room himself.
He sighs annoyingly. It's been over two weeks ever since Sensei Wu allowed the little guy on the Destiny bounty. Even though Sensei Wu told them that they needed to watch over Lloyd, the red ninja still wanted to knock some sense into the him. He wouldn't even be surprised if that scream that he heard was a prank to wake up the ninja.
But this time was different.
Opening the door halfway, Kai could hear soft sniffling and movement coming from the corner of the room. Opening the door more and he saw Lloyd siting on the floor with his arms wrapped around his legs. He tucks his head lower into his knees. Only allowing his teary eyes show.
"Lloyd?" Kai quietly called worryingly.
"Leave me alone." Lloyd said, holding his legs tighter. "Before I do something you'll regret."
Kai ignored the boy's threat and walks in the room.
"Didn't you listen, I told you to leave me alone!" Lloyd said loudly.
Kai shakes his head.
"No, I want to know what's wrong." Kai said, crossing his arms.
Lloyd turns his head away. Knowing that in reality, he couldn't do anything to the ninja to make him leave.
Kai sighs and walks over to the boy until he's two feet away. He squats to Lloyd's level and looks at Lloyd with concern.
"Tell me what's wrong." Kai asks.
Lloyd locks eyes with the ninja for a second before turning his head away again.
"It was just a nightmare...now can you leave?" Lloyd said, feeling his eyes starting to water again.
"About what?" Kai asks. He wasn't going to leave without a clear answer.
Lloyd stares angrily at the ninja. He was on the verge of tears but his eyes glowed an intense red.
"Why do want to know so bad!? I'm just a demon to you! A mistake who messes everything up and expect others to follow under my command!" Lloyd yells, lowering his head and allowing tears to rush down his face.

"I'm no better than my father...and I can't do anything right..."
Lloyd didn't bother wanting to look up or hear the ninja. What if he was about to laugh at him? Or tell him that it was all true. It wouldn't be a surprise.
But again, this time was different.
Lloyd felt a tight embrace come from the ninja. Lloyd raises his head.
"Lloyd, why didn't you tell us that you felt this way sooner?" Kai asks.
"I thought you and everyone else wouldn't care...and tell me that it was all true. I hurt people. I made people fear me. Just because I didn't want to be alone anymore." Lloyd replies sadly, with a hint of disappointment.
"Lloyd...I know what you did was wrong, but know that you're not alone." Kai said, moving his hands to his shoulder and pushing his body back. "You have us now, and we'll make sure you don't get into any trouble."
"But what if I do?" Lloyd asks.
"Listen, you may be annoying and insufferable at times, but you're a good kid. And you're not like your father, trust me. Kai said, chucking a bit. "Unlike your father, you can change and make a difference. You're not a demon, so stop treating yourself like one."
Lloyd didn't expect that from Kai. But it made him feel worth it. He wasn't alone; he's going to get better. And he wasn't going to let a nightmare change that.
"Never Trust A Snake"
He quickly hugs Kai, and the tears fall on the ninja's pajamas.
"Thank you Kai...thank you..."
Kai rubs Lloyd's hair.
"No problem." Kai replies.
Kai noticed something green in the boy's eyes, but brushed it off. This was just a moment between them.
And soon Kai heard soft snoring coming from the boy.
Kai places the sleeping boy under the covers of the bed and tucks him in before leaving the room. Taking one last look at the boy, he smiles, and closes the door. Maybe Lloyd wasn't such a brat after all.
