Choose your last words wisely.

"I love you."

That's harsh.

Despite the urge in my chest to drop the gun and run to you, I shot.

Love doesn't exist for people like me. It never did. But... maybe it did for you.

I lowered the gun as your face took on a look of surprise. Your hand goes to your side. The blood flowed strong.

The rain was beating hard on both of us now. I don't know how long I stood there. I could hear wings beating through the wind and thunder. Destra. My wyvern had come at last. I boarded it and flew off.

But I took your body with me, and buried it with your mothers. She knew... She knew you would die tonight, for the sake of the world...

Her form was standing near the grave as I dug. Every shovel full of dirt reminded me of the light I killed that night.

The light the world needed...

And I doused it. I doused the fire that never yielded at anything. Your fire...

I laid your body down. I brushed a strand of hair from your face, and kissed your forehead. A final goodbye.

You were a warrior. So brave. You never knew the outcome of tonight...

I did. I could have stopped it. The spirits whispered the ending as I fell asleep. I knew that I would be the one to end you.

Such a nïave thing... you believed so much in hope.

I started piling the dirt on you.

I would run away. To Kasadar... No one will know of me. No one will know my name.

Maybe you will rest easy. Happy at last to be with your mother. Even after all I did, she hugged me as I placed the last mound of dirt. She thanked me for returning you.

I took the earliest ship out to Kasadar. No one so much as glanced at me. The quiet of the ocean is nice. I might get a cottage by the sea. And live my immortal life...

But it will be hollow without you. There will be days I might not eat or sleep, as your last words haunt me. I paid for your death. It should've been me who fell. Fell into my blood and bled out like an animal.

So I wrote this when I was feeling lonely and at a really low point and I guess i like the outcome of it haha. I wrote it back in march-april I hope you guys like it too!!
