About 2 weeks passed since the fight with the newborns army, Victoria is dead. The volturi still wanting for Bella's change. A change that Edward still doesn't want, he told everyone about the engagement, Alice was already preparing for the wedding. Everyone was happy, I was a bit nervous on counting that I'll see Charlie at the wedding. Me and Bella have been getting along great, been treating her a sister.
I was in the living room helping Alice out when Carlisle calls me in. "Caitlin, can I see you in my office?" He asked me, "sure, Carlisle." I said. We walked in his office, I see Edward and Bella there. I sat down across from Carlisle, Edward and Bella stood next to him. They looked concerned.
"What's wrong?" I asked. The men looked at Bella, she nodded, "Charlie, knows you're his daughter. He's has know for a while. He just didn't say anything." She said. I lean back on the chair, speechless. "What does this mean? About me. Would I have to leave?" I asked Carlisle. "Possibly, he'll see your different." He said. Bella then spoke up.
"She doesn't have to leave yet." She said, I was a bit surprise on what she said. "He'll see I'm different, I can't risk that." I tell her. "You could speak with him. Stay for the wedding, then we'll see from there." Carlisle said.
"Speak with him. No." I thought
"He actually does want to speak with you." Edward said. I roll my eyes. "I'm sorry, I can't." I looked at Bella. "It'll mean a lot for me." Bella said. I looked at the others, they nodded. I sign "fine." I said.
They next day I got ready to see Charlie, I was bit nervous. "You'll be fine babe, just be nice." Chris said. I groan, "this is stupid, I'm not ready." I said. "Edward will be in the house with Bella. He'll make sure you'll be fine." He hugged me. "Okay." I nodded. I drove down to his house, "you'll be fine Caitlin." Edward said.
"Thanks" I said. I knocked on the door. There was Charlie, opening the door. He gave me a small smile. "Um, Bella said you wanted to speak with me." I said. He nod, "uh yeah. Please come on in" he showed me the way.
I enter his home, very basic home. He offer me to sit, "can I get you anything?" He asked. "Um no, I'm okay. Thank you." I said. He sign and sat across from me.
"So, um I really don't know what to say." He start off.
"You could start off with 'sorry for leaving you' I sarcastically said. He chuckle nervously, "why didn't you fight for us?" I immediately said. I looked at him dead in the eyes, I could sense his guilty. He runs his hands through his hair, "I tried, believe me Caitlin I tried so hard." He said.
"Tried harder." I said, looking at the floor. We got quite for a second, "what can I do?" He asked me, "nothing. I don't need nothing from you." I said looking at him. He nodded, "I know, I hurt you Caitlin. But I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. I should've fought for you. Not a day goes by that I didn't think about you. Every night when I go to sleep, I miss you so much it was ache. You're my first born and you have ever right to be mad" he said
"I am mad. Because you disappear, you left. Because you didn't fight for us, me! So yes I'm mad. I lost my mother, and you were nowhere to be found." I snap at him angrily. "Caitlin" I hear Edward from upstairs.
"I was there." Charlie said. I looked at him confuse, "what?" I said. "Why would you say that?" I tell me.
"Because it's the truth. I was there at the funeral. Your aunt called me told me what happened. But I was there." He said, i couldn't believe him, I looked at him. I could smell Bella in the stairs, "I would remember if you were at her funeral." I told him.
"I was there Caitlin. I was in the back, but I was there. But you won't, you were barley there, you were like a ghost. You were like me when Renee walked out on me with Bella." He said. I looked away from him, trying to collect my thoughts. I stood up rubbing my head.
"My aunt never told me that." I said, "I told her not to. You had already lost enough. Seeing me would make you even more angry." He pause "I wanted to reach out to you, I really did. You don't know how much I missed you Caitlin. Every single day." He said. I hear bella come down the stairs.
"It's everything okay?" She asked. "Yea bella. Everything is good." Charlie said. There was a knock on the door, it was Edward. He pretend to pick me up.
"Look, I don't know what's like to have you as a father. But I do know what's it like to have a sister." I pause looking at Bella with a smile, "and it feels good. I don't want there to be any problems at the wedding. So you go your way and I go mine." I said to him. He nodded, agreeing to my suggestion. Bella walks up to hug, I hug back. "Thanks" she whispers in my ear.
We left the Swans house, and back to our home of vampires. On our way back Edward was smiling. "What are you smiling at?" I asked him. "You said having Bella as a sister feels good. You're growing up." He tease. I laugh "I guess we all are." As we drove pass the woodsy area.
