Relief
The hard and unforgiving floor, which felt punishing at most times, now felt solid and loving in its embrace. Head thrown back in ecstasy. Arms limp and lifeless at my sides, fingers letting off uncontrollable twitches as time lurched forward.
A heavy and sluggish heart pounded in my chest, matching the cadence of my slowing thoughts. Whispers slip through my head, telling me of how wrong this is. But my body only tells me of the relief, of the pleasure.
Slowly the heavy knife slides out my hand, slick with blood.
Worn and tired eyes drift down to the hard work the knife had made possible.
WORTHLESS, carved into my flesh. Blood oozing from the word perfectly centered on my otherwise unmarked forearm.
Screaming sounded in the distance, far from my dulled senses. For one moment, right before my eyes drifted closed, I wondered if maybe I was wrong.
