WorldRhino Day
World Rhino day gives cause-related organisations, NGOs, zoos and members of the public an opportunity to celebrate rhinos in their own unique ways. In 2010 WWF-South Africa first revealed #worldrhinoday. It Day expanded to become an international phenomenon the following year, incorporating both African and Asian rhino populations. Since then, the event has been aspiring many to work for the protection of wild animals and create a joint venture for the cause, hence uniting NGOs, Businesses, Zoos, cause-related organizations and individuals.

Rhinoceros Species Summary
Rhinoceros are one of the largest and heaviest mammals on Earth. Just 5 species of rhinos are left in the world, 2 of which are native to Africa and 3 are native to South Asia. The IUCN Red List has listed three of the species as critically endangered.
Rhinos are known for their gigantic size and physique. They have a diet made from herbivores. Weighing about or more than a ton, with thick protective skin and a large horn, they are one of the largest mammals on land.
Remaining species of Rhinos in the wild;
Sumatran
Javan
White
Black
Great One-horned
Why are Rhinos Poached?Rhinoceros are commonly poached for their horns which are traded in large amounts on the black market. Some cultures use these for the purposes of ornamental or traditional medicine. East Asia, and Vietnam in particular, is the largest rhino horn market. By weight, the rhino horns on the black market cost as much as gold. People grind the horns and then eat them, assuming that the dust has a strong therapeutic effect.
Keratin is made of the eyes, the substance that makes up hair and fingernails. African species and the Sumatran rhinos appear to have two horns while the subcontinental rhinos and Javan rhinos have one horn.
