My Day Off pt. 10
"Hi baby." I whispered as I touched the face of my daughter. She just got out of surgery. My poor baby.
She flutters her eyes and looks at me. "Mommy? Daddy?" She whispers. I touch her face and ran my thumb over her cheek. "Mommy? Why do I feel weird?"
I frown seeing my daughter hospitalized. She doesn't deserve this.
Apparently, my baby has 3rd degree cancer. How did we not notice this? I look at her innocent face. I watch her as she picks up the wires and wonders what they are.
I stop her when she tried to pull it out. "No baby, that's helping you. Don't pull it out." I instruct her. She releases it from her grasp and apologizes.
"Sorry mommy." "Its okay honey," I smile and she smiles too.
"Mommy, when can we go home? When can I watch TV with daddy and Rachel, while you cook dinner like always?" Dylan asks. I frown knowing she won't be able to that for a long time.
"Mommy has to leave to bring Rachel home and stay with her but you have to stay with Daddy sweetie." My voice cracks up throughout the sentence as I tell her she won't be going home tonight.
"But why? I wanna go home and eat dinner with you guys!" Cried Dylan. I hug her and kiss her forehead.
"Shhh, baby I'm sorry. Not tonight but soon. Okay baby?" Dylan sniffed. She wiped her nose with the back of her hand.
"Okay mommy." I kiss her forehead and her cute puffy tinted pink cheeks. I kiss all over face over and over again making her laugh and smile. I laugh also.
"Be a good girl for daddy okay," I tell her. "Okay mommy, I love you. You'll be back right?" I hug her tight. "First thing in the morning sweet pea."
"Okay mommy. Wait, can I say 'bye' to RayRay." I laugh. RayRay is a nickname Dylan gave Rachel. Rachel gave her Dill. Juliet and Zack call her Dill pickle though.
"Sure. Rachel, Dylan wants to say bye." Rachel ran to me and I picked her up and put her next to Dylan. They hugged each other.
"Bye Dill, I'll see you tomorrow. Okay? Feel better."
"Bye RayRay. I love you. See you tomorrow."
"I love you too." Rachel and Dylan shared another hug. I smiled and let them have their moment.
After a couple more seconds Rachel released from their embrace and came up to me. "Do we really have to leave Dill? And with Daddy? What are you thinking?!" I laughed and picked her up.
"Ok smarty pants, we have to get you to bed. You have school." Rachel made her eyes big and wide and puffed out her bottom lip.
"Can I please miss school? Please!" She made the face. How could I say no to the face. Ugh Rachel wins. Again....
"Ugh no fair. Your making the face! How can I say no to the face?"
"Not my fault I'm so adorable."
"Actually its your dads fault. Ugh, you win. You can miss."
"Yes! Thank you mommy!" She hugged me tight. I hugged her back a little tighter.
"Yeah yeah. You knew your gonna win anyway because you made the face."
"Its my secret weapon." Rachel said while giggling. I kissed her cheek and set her down on the bed.
"Whatever smarty pants." I playfully stuck my tongue out at her. She smiled and started playing Patty Cake with Dylan.
I sat down next to my husband and he wrapped his arm around me. I rested my head on his shoulder and we watched our daughters play. Then realization hit me and Ross like a smack in the face. We looked at each other.
"Juliet!" "Zack!" Me and Ross yelled at the same time. I stood up and ran a hand through my hair.
"How could we be so careless? Ross! Why didn't you remind me?!" I yelle at him. He looked shocked.
"Excuse me?! They're your kids too! You should've remembered!" He yelled also. Then I started crying. Ross' face softened. He came and hugged me. He swayed gently and kissed my forehead softly.
"Oh baby. I'm sorry. I guess we're just tired. I have complete confidence that Delly picked them up when they were picking up Carrie." Ross said to me. I nodded.
"Y-Yeah, your right." I breathed out and ran a hand through my hair. Ross came up to me and held my face in his hands. He looked at me in the eyes and kissed me gently but passionately.
I felt myself relax in the kiss. Ross wrapped his arms around my waist, bringing me closer. Instinctively, I wrapped my arms around Ross' neck.
We let go a few minutes later and Ross smiled and licked his lips, which after all these years still looks hot. "This is the same strawberry lip gloss from our first kiss." Ross smiled. I smiled and came closer and hugged him. I buried my face in his chest.
"You still remember that? Ugh, it was so embarrassing." I said blushing in his chest. He smiled and held me.
"Are you kidding me? You looked adorable and dorky, plus that was a magical moment."
"For goodness sakes Ross, it was embarrassing." "I'll admit you falling down the stairs was funny but it was cute. You should've heard your cute little screams. " Ross laughed. I blushed.
Then Dylan asked a question. "Daddy? How did you and mommy meet?"
Me and Ross smiled at each other. "Well...."
