☾Jasey's POV ☾

"Jasey!" I hear a voice call after me as I'm about to leave the airport. As I turn around, I see a familiar face calling my name. Aunt Joy. I'm actually not sure why I call her my aunt, she's not related to me or my mom, or even my dad. She was my mom's best friend. But it doesn't really matter to me anymore, she's family, and all that I've got left now.

"Aunt Joy!" Im so excited to see her, I've just spent 16 hours on a plane without my family, knowing they're long gone by now. "Don't take this the wrong way, but I've never been so happy to see you, Aunt Joy." At this she just smiles and grabs my bag. I go to stop her because I can carry my own bag, but she just gives me a look. The same look my mother used to give me. When we get to her car, a black Dodge Charger, we get in and start on our way back home.

"So Jasey," she starts and causes me to look over at her. "We can go get you a new car so you don't have to take Cal or Mali's, you remember them, right? Oh, and also, we gave you the guest room. I know it's not as big as back in Aus but it'll have to do, ok?" I just nod and give her my appreciation.

We turn down a street and I see huge houses lining the side of the road, some look like mansions. But we don't stop, we keep going down the road, farther and farther. The further down the road, the smaller the houses. And then I see a big locked fence that stops us. Joy gets out and unlocks the fence, pulls through, and locks it again. When she gets back into the car, we continue driving for a few minutes until we stop at a medium sized house and pull into the driveway. "Welcome home, Jasey."

Back in Aus we lived in a house a bit bigger than this one, and by a bit I mean a lot. But it's ok, I'll get used to it. But why was there a fence in between the big houses and the poor houses?

"Aunt Joy, why did we have to cross the gate? Why is there a locked gate?" She sighs before answering. And to say I'm shocked is an understatement.

"Here there's a bit of controversy about the poor. That's what they call us-the wealthy people do-the poor, the middle class. We make sufficiently less money than even the poorest rich, the last house before the gate. They think we are bad, rebels, punks, but I guess that's sort of true. A lot of the kids on this side of the fence have a lot in common. Also, we can't really afford school uniforms, so our kids just go to school in their normal clothes, most of which are black jeans and band T-shirts." at this I start to smile, because that is most ideal outfit. "I know you didn't pack any clothes in that bag, just some essentials, but that's ok. I'm sure you could borrow some of Mara's clothes. She's Calum's girlfriend, you look like you should fit them, you look about the same size. So that's what you need to know for now, but any of us can help you out if you need. Calum, Mara and Luke should be on their way here. Maybe with some of the girls but I'm not sure." As if on queue, my cousin and 4 other people walk into the house.

"Hey mom. I brought the guy-JASEY!" Calum stops mid sentence when he sees me and and rushes forward to engulf me in a hug. From behind him I see a short girl with teal hair glaring at me. I think I know who she is. Pulling away from Cal, I give him a small smile, and then move to the others. I go the the one who glared at me first. "Hi. You must be Mara, Cal's girlfriend. I'm Jasey, Cal's cousin-thing." At this they look confused, so I decide to elaborate. "His mom was best friends with my mom. We aren't really related, but we act more like siblings than friends. Well, at least we did before he moved here to New York." At this the teal haired girl physically relaxes and shakes my hand, giving me a smile. Aunt Joy was right, we look about the same size. She turns to point out another girl, one who is practically hiding behind the boy if the room.

"This is my half-sister Abby. Different moms, same dad. It just so happened to be that my mother is poor and hers is rich, so we live in opposite sides of the gate. No one from the North side knows she's here, they'd kick her out." I notice the differences between the sisters. Mara is short and curvy, with big cheeks and piercing blue eyes, and of course, the teal hair. Abby however, stands much taller, though fairly thin, with a thin face and brown eyes. Her brown hair ombrés to a pale blonde, it's actually very pretty. Mara then speaks up again. "The giraffe holding onto my sister is her boyfriend, Luke, and Calum's best friend." The tall blonde smiles at me and that's when I notice the black lip ring. Damn, all the hot ones are taken. Mara then introduces the last one, another girl, as Jamie. "She's my good friend, but sometimes I think she belongs on the North side, because sometimes she's not cut out for the South," Mara says, a playful tone in her voice. Jamie just nudges the dyed girl and comes over to me, shaking my hand. I take in her brown hair and blue eyes, and realize she's about the size and structure of Mara. No wonder their good friends. "What? No hot boyfriend for you Jamie?" She just laughs is off, but only I notice the nervousness laced in it. She likes someone, and by the look of the way she's acting, I'm guessing it's someone she's not supposed to. At this time, Luke speaks up, and for the first time I hear his voice. "Jasey, as in like, Jasey Rae, by All Time Low?" I nod my head in confirmation, and I can feel my pendent moving with me. "Wait, doesn't that dick have that necklace?"
