"Today's the last day to practice!" An elf looked down at a pamphlet held in her hands. "Audition to become a Forest Guardian starting on September 1st, I'll definitely be there." She rushed down stairs, "I'll be out with Lorisia," she yelled to her mother dashing out the door. The wind blew it shut as she ran to the house over, "Lorisia! You home?" knocking while she shouted.
The door opened revealing a taller elf with blonde hair and a slim physique, though they both wore the similar clothes of their village. Lorisia seemed as excited as ever, "Arisa, you ready for the audition tomorrow, it'll be tough." "Of course, that's the fun of it!" She wore a smile, shining greater than the sun above the village.
They began to walk into what seemed an endless forest, but a clearing began to emerge from the wall of trees before them. They placed the bows from their backs on a large log seated in the middle of the clearing, preparing the arrows Lorisia had brought with her.
"This is our last chance before the day we've been waiting for, the one we've been training years for." Arisa's expression had changed from the playful smile from before. She seemed more serious, her eyes closed, her body entirely relaxed.
The bow in her hands, the wind flowing through her hair, the determination filling her to the core. Training had been her life and she was prepared to put it all to the test. She pulled back the arrow, aiming the bow towards a tree standing a few yards away.
The weight of the string shot forward as the arrow released from the tension of the bow. An immense force began to fill the air, the spirits beginning to erupt around her. The arrow emit a glow of green, revealing the feelings she had built within this shot. The arrow landed.
She turned around, glowing brighter than she ever had, "Lorisia! Lorisia! Did you see that?! I'm sure to win the tourna-" her eyes sank, her arms trembling. She could barely speak the words she wanted to convey, managing nothing more than a murmur. "Lorisia?"
Her friend had died.
