The slow drone of Present Mic's voice covered the class in a blanket of fatigue. UA was not boring, not by a longshot, but sometimes it was too average. Izuku stared out the window of the classroom, looking at a pair birds circling each other before settling down on a tree branch. He smiled to himself at the peaceful scene.
"MR. MIDORIYA!" Present Mic's voice broke through Midoriya's trance, pulling him back into the world of the living. Izuku's eyes rushed to his teacher, who just stared him down in response. The rest of the class watched the scene unfold in anticipation.
"Y-Yes... Mr. Present Mic?" Izuku asked, hoping he wouldn't be chastised too much for zoning out.
"ARE THESE CONJUNCTIONS BORING YOU, LITTLE LISTENER?" Present Mic called to the boy; his hand outstretched to reach out to Izuku.
"N-No, sir." He said, trying to hide in his uniform jacket.
"Good! Now stick with the class, PLEASE!" Mic returned, saying the last part extra loud.
...
Izuku sat at the lunch table, watching his cup of rice very intently. His eyes seem to glaze over as he observed the small ceramic bowl.
"M-Midoriya?" a voice called from outside of Izuku's focused perspective. He blinked before turning to his friend Tenya Iida.
"Yeah, Iida?" Izuku responded, seeing Iida's confused face.
"Is something wrong with your rice? You've been staring at it for about five minutes now." Iida's face expressed worry. Izuku shook his head rapidly.
"Nothing's wrong with my rice, I've just been thinking about something." He said, waving his hands in front of his face.
"What is it, Deku?" Ochako Uraraka asked, tilting her head to the side slightly.
"Some of my stuff is going missing and I can't find it. It's just small stuff, but it's worrying me. I don't usually misplace stuff." Uraraka just smiled at him.
"Maybe you're stressed from all your hero work!" she said cheerfully. "You need to take a rest break this weekend to get back in the groove!"
Izuku nodded as he packed up his stuff. "Maybe that's it." He said goodbye before heading back to the dorms, wondering what could be going on. He got to his door, noticing the door open already. His face paled as he opened the door fully. He scanned the room, noticing nobody. He sighed. "What's going on with me?" he tossed his bag onto the ground before laying on his bed. He turned over onto his back before his mouth gaped open. His eyes, now filled with terror, had landed upon a small picture.
Him, Iida, and Ochako in the lunchroom, taken from a bird's eye view. A knife was buried to the hilt in the ceiling, splitting apart Uraraka and securing the picture in place.
Someone had been watching them.
Someone was watching him.
