( lovers that never went ! )
toronto walked through the halls with a towel wrapped around her, her wet feet against the old wooden floor sounded a creak with every step she took. she headed at the end of the hall for her room. she walked into the room to see denver sitting on the bed, as if he was waiting for her. toronto looked at him in question. "where are monica and the kids?" she noticed that neither her wife nor kids were in the room at his hour, which was weird. they usually spent that time reading to the kids. "at dinner still. which you skipped out on because you needed to train. did you get fitness in?" he asked and toronto rolled her eyes as she headed over towards the dresser knowing where this talk was going.
"denver spare me from the lecture. we all have different needs while being in this house." toronto defended herself. she knew she had been training a lot in both weaponry and combat non-stop almost but she needed to be ready for this heist. "i understand that. but just because we're planning for it doesn't mean you don't have a life. you still have kids and partners." denver told her as she looked through the dresser for something to wear. he started to get annoyed because she wasn't making eye contact. toronto couldn't believe she was living in a time where she had to have denver lecture her about her decisions.
toronto's towel dropped to the ground when she found a shirt. she pulled it over her head. "i understand that. but i need to be nearly perfect for this heist. they are not going to be as lenient like they were last time. the professor was fucking lisbon the whole time and threw her off the game and i'm pretty sure we don't have anyone that wants to take one for the team anymore." toronto commented as she put on her shorts, finally turning around. denver chuckled as his wife and nodded but made sure to not lose the point of this talk.
"you're training so hard because you think if you're perfect at everything you can prevent another death." denver told her and toronto's smile dropped and he sighed and just patted a seat next to him on the bed. toronto walked over to the bed and took a seat. "i know what you and berlin had before he died. what you and my dad had. what you and oslo had. and i get you don't want to feel that pain anymore but you cannot devote yourself to something you don't know you can do." denver told her and toronto shook her head.
"i could've drag andres by the hand with me and i didn't because i was too hysterical and i was being selfish because i was pregnant. this heist is different. not only do i have kids to come home to, i have a brother, husband and wife that's in there with me. my wife not really being experienced as most. so i get to train, alright? because i know in the end it's going to pay off." toronto pressed her finger against denver's chest as she spoke until he finally caught it.
denver gave his wife a smile knowing how determined she was, he held her hand tight. his other hand went to her face, cupping her cheek and she leaned into it. "do you remember the times you used to calm me down before the first heist? how you used to hold me... give me massages. anything so i wouldn't feel so anxious." denver told her and toronto smiled and nodded. "then let me do the same for you this time." he told laying a kiss on her forehead and then moved down to her lips and when pulled away toronto had a small smile on her lips. it wasn't huge but it was something and that's all denver wanted.
