I woke up to a storm. My music was no longer turned on. Shaking sleep I looked for a lamp. It was nine at night. I had slept the entire day. Maybe breakfast was ready for me. I looked through the clothes in the closet. Most of it was too girly for me. After five minutes a settled for jeans and a floral white and pink shirt. I ran muss through my hair and headed to the bathroom to finish getting ready.
There was no one downstairs. Where had they gone? Had they left me here? I looked again a second time and found Sean.
"Oh great, breakfast is here," he laughed.
The other brother -Nikho came into the room.
"What blood type are you?"
"I don't know. You tell me," I folded my arms tight to my chest.
"So, you've had this 'job' your whole life and you don't know your blood type," Nikho whistled.
"My last Master wouldn't tell me," I forced the word Master out. I had always hated that term. "He said it was best I didn't know."
"Do you want to play some video games?" asked Nikho. "Well you'd be more of the prize I guess. Whoever wins gets to kiss you."
I laughed. "You know your father warned me against courting you right?"
"Oh come one. Stop being so stiff," Sean moved closer. "Let us have our fun."
"How about I play against you both. If I win you both owe me something."
"If you lose then you owe us something. The both of us," Sean winked.
"Deal," I smirked.
"Deal," said the boys.
We walked to the basement living room. I was hoping they wouldn't lock me in. I had lost count of the times I had been locked into a room. The living room was the only place that looked to be of this century. There was game consoles, a bar, a massive flat screen, comfy couches and a semi empty bookshelf.
We sat together on the gray, comfy sofa and played Mortal Combat. I had never played a video game before, but it wasn't too hard.
"One last round. If you win this one we owe you something. If we do you owe us something."
I bit my lip to hide my fear. After hitting a few controls the game was over. Sean smiled showing his fangs. I took the counsel with shaking hands, but I moved my hands closer to my body so it wasn't as noticeable.
"Don't get too nervous. We can smell fear," Sean joaked -or maybe he was seriousWe played for five minutes until my avatar killed theirs again.
"So your a natural," Nikho stretched. "What do you want?"
"What are m y options?"
"Whatever you want," Nikho repeated. "We have enough money for anything."
"I don't know. I'll think about it."
"I want some food," Sean said scotting closer to me. "Real food. You almost look as pale as we do."
"Where is your Dad?" I asked.
"Don't worry about him. He's always working. Only comes home late at night. Let's see what the cook made for breakfast."
The dining room was just like the rest of the house. There was a massive table where at least 20 people could be seated at. There was lit candles in the center to provide lighting. On the far end of the dining room was a huge window with thick dark draperies. Three plates were served at the end with mugs.
"Come on she made us oatmeal again," complained Sean.
"Your such a baby, Sean," Nikho started eating right away. "Gosh, at least the mocha is perfect."
"Who cooks here?" I asked hoping it was another human.
"Some vampire lady my father hired. She doesn't live here, but she comes by a lot. She cleans and cooks for us," Sean ate a strawberry.
"And what happened to your Mom?"
Sean dropped his spoon, "We don't talk about that."
"She died in a fire when we were kids," Nikho filled in. "After that it was just my father and us, and whoever he hired for jobs. We also have tutors for school and we go to our cousin's house a lot. I don't know if you know, but our cousin is coming over. At last some fun cause Sean is very boring."
"You're the boring one," Sean protested. "I'm the one that stole the car that one time."
"And you crashed it."
Maybe I could steal the car and escape. How hard could it be? All I would have to do was find the keys or figure out how to hotwire. Maybe it'd be easier during the day. Where would the keys b...
"Aisha, gosh," Nikho interrupted. "Do you want to watch a movie or something?"
"OK, sure," I responded.
