it was a warm spring day, jinyoung and yugyeom were heading to take a stroll around the yard after eating lunch together, as they always did.

jinyoung raised his head and looked up at the sky, starting to think about his feelings without even noticing it.
how long had it been since he had liked the taller boy next to him?
he couldn't set a date or a time of when he developed his feelings, it was like they had always been there, as if his heart was made to beat faster automatically when he looked at the younger, it was the most natural and spontaneous feeling he had ever felt and he couldn't deny that sometimes he wished he could have controlled it.
it's not like he didn't want to fall in love, it was just that, even though he had had previous experiences with both boys and girls, this time it was completely different.
somehow his mind always managed to control what he felt, in every kind of situation, he wasn't used to let the heart take control over his rational self.
jinyoung stayed silent all the time as he was caught up in his thoughts, of course yugyeom couldn't help but stare at him, questioning what was going on in the older's mind.
he didn't know if he had to speak up or just stay silent too, he chose the second option for a while and then just decided to go for the first one after about a five minutes.

"what's wrong?"

he simply asked, drawing jinyoung's attention to himself, making his friend look at him.
the older honestly didn't know what to answer, he wished he would have had the guts to confess and finally let out every single word and desire he had kept in for all this time but he was just too scared to make such a bold move.

"nothing, don't worry."

he just said, not being able to come up with anything better, showing the younger a soft smile, giving himself the right to reach out for the other's hair and slightly patting it, in a fondly way, for a few seconds.
yugyeom just nodded and mumbled a simple 'okay' as he slightly blushed at the other's action, hoping that the latter wouldn't have noticed it, lowering his head a little bit in an embarrassed way, letting some locks fall right into his almond eyes.
jinyoung couldn't help but stare at him, every little thing the younger did simply left him speechless, how could a person be this loveable?
he just kept on smiling.

"thanks for worrying for me though, i'm lucky to have you in my life."

yugyeom's eyes lit up at those words, for sure he didn't see it coming, a warm feeling suddenly surrounded him, it was strange how just some words spoken by jinyoung had such an effect on him.
he was so glad to hear that, everytime something like this happened he unintentionally got his hopes up, how could he refrain himself from imagining hearing those words on a daily basis?

"i should be the one saying that, jinyoung."

the older kept on walking with him side by side, slowly, enjoying that moment at the fullest, hoping he would have been able to treasure those memories for a long time.
one thing he knew for sure, no matter how much time had passed, he would have never forgotten kim yugyeom.

"we're the lucky ones."

he said, looking at the boy next to him, stopping as he saw the younger smiling at those words.
they didn't do anything else for a while, they just stared into each other's eyes and smiled, fondly, until jinyoung finally looked away, heading to the university, with the other boy following right after.
