Ch. 1 "the nickname"

A/n: hey everyone! So this is the first book I've written and I hope you all enjoy it. There's also some music if you want to listen to it.

Readers pov

It was a beautiful day in the kingdom (idk the name -3-) everyone was laughing and running around having fun. Well almost everyone.. Far off on the sidelines of the kingdom there was a village hidden away from everyone. This is where the shape shifters lived.

Every one feard the shape shifters because they think they are terrible people that only bring trouble, destruction, and sadness because of a war they started in the kingdom for power a long time ago. But after they lost the war they were captured and killed, most of them were forced into hiding for fear of their lives. Until one day a young child named (y/n) decided to go out and explore the kingdom.

Y/n pov

I looked out my window to see the beautiful night sky from my room. "I wish I could go out and explore" I thought to my self as I heard the door to my room open "you should be asleep y/n" My dad keigo (hawks) said as he leaned against the door frame.

"I couldn't sleep is all" I said to him as I was still looking out the window. He sighed and rubbed his face "I know you want to go out but you can't, it's to dangerous" He said to me as my brother Tokoyami walked into the room.

"I know I know" I sighed "it's just not fair- it's been forever since that dumb war" I said as my brother agreed with me "I know but people are scared of us still, just go to sleep and stay inside" He said as stood up properly and closed the door. "Yeah okay good night dad" Tokoyami and said in unison as he left.

I waited a couple of hours until everyone was asleep when I opened my window as quietly as I could "just a few hours shouldn't hurt anyone right?" I asked myself as I had wings form on my back and I flew out my window. "Phew no one saw me" I thought to myself as I flown out of the village and into the kingdom.

I was flying all around the kingdom exploring everything I could when I saw someone looking at me. I waved hello at the man but all he did was scream and throw stuff at me. "Get out of here you monster!" He yelled "h-huh?" I was confused but I started flying away to a large building that I think was the castle.

"Did I do something wrong" I asked myself "all I did was wave.." I kept asking myself questions when I saw people at the front of the building in some weird looking clothes that looked around my age. I hid in a big tree that was close by to get a better look at what they were doing.

They were just standing there talking with swords in their hands I leans forward a bit when the tree leaves started to ruffle. "Oh no-" I said to myself quietly as some of them started to walk towards the tree. "W-whos there?!" An elf like boy yelled. I covered my mouth to stay quiet and sat as still as I could while a bunch of the other kids started to come towards the tree.

I was looking for a way to get out when I certain blonde boy caught my eye. "We're not going to be hurt you, just come out of there" He said calmly as he looked up at the tree most likely seeing my feet dangling from the tree. "Y-Yeah we just w-want to talk" The elf like boy said again while holding his sword out.

I took a deep breath in and stated to make my way down the tree forgetting about my wings that were still out. When I got to the ground they all just looked at me in fear well accept for that blonde boy in the back. "I-its a shape shifter! K-kill it!" All accept the blonde yelled as they started to run up to me.

"What do I do!?" I asked myself as I started running away as fast as I could "how did they know?!" I kept asking myself as I was running away while they were running after me and throwing stuff at me when one of them threw a rock at my back. "Ow!" I yelled as someone covered my mouth and pulled me into a dark street.

I kept thrashing around as the person kept their hand over my mouth "shh! Stay quiet!" They whisper yelled at me as the other kids ran by us. After they were far away the person let go of me and I backed away from them "w-what do you want!?" I asked as I turned around to see the blonde boy from before "o-oh it's you.. D-Don't kill me p-please!"

I pleaded as I backed away more. "I'm not going to kill you just keep your voice down before someone finds us" The boy said as he grabbed my hand and started walking somewhere. "Where are you taking me? And who are you?" I asked as he was practically dragging me somewhere.

"I'm Mirio Togata, but you can just call me mirio and I'm taking you to a place where you can run back to your village" He said with a faint blush on his face. "Is he blushing? Why is he blushing?" I asked myself as we got closer to the woods "oh.. Okay um thanks" I looked at him and felt my cheeks heating up. "Am I blushing?.. I mean he is kinda cute and the way his hair is- ahhh no stop it y/n!"  

I shook my head to try and get those thoughts out of my head. "Yeah no problem" He smiled brightly "what's your name anyway?" He asked smiling at me "oh um.. My names y/n but you can just call me n/n" I said as I smiled at him. We ended up reaching the forest a few minutes later when we heard people calling out for mirio. "N/N go now before they catch you!" He said as he started pushing me towards the way to my village.

"but what about you mirio? Will I get to see you again?" I asked with a bit sadness in my voice. "I'm sure we will n/n but for now just go okay?" He smiled softly at me as he sat on the floor. I nodded "okay" I said to him as I started to fly away. "Look up there!" On of the kids said as they pointed at me. "Forget about them! We have to find mirio!"

Another one of them said as I flew away more. After a while of flying I got back to the village and flew into my room and layed down in my bed "ow.. " I whisperd as my back still hurt from that rock they threw. I decided to go to sleep for the rest of the night and that my back would probably feel better tomorrow.

When I woke up it was around lunch time but the weird thing was that I woke up to yelling outside my window. I looked out and saw papers everywhere I didn't think much of it until one of them flew onto my window from the wind "oh no oh no oh no!" I said to myself as I was freaking out from the paper with turned out to be a, wanted poster.. For me. It had a reward and everything except now I was stuck with the nickname "wings of night".
