Thrust out of my dream in a panic, I got ready for work at breakneck speed, throwing on a cream and navy plaid dress and heels, then headed out to the office.
As if that dream wasn't enough to make me discombobulated, I had received a text from Bethany before the sun was even up.
Bethany: [Come to my office right away when you get in this morning. The earlier the better.]
I set out for my morning walk to work and saw an incoming text from Val.
Val: [Do you want a breakfast sandwich with that coffee?]
Elodie: [Sure. Might want to put it in the fridge though and I can heat it up later. I have an early ASAP meeting with Bethany.]
Val: [Oh :o]
Val: [I'll get you a large coffee to go with it then. How did you sleep?]
I felt a blush creep over my cheeks at the thought.
Elodie: [I slept well enough. Had some weird dream though.]
Her text back was lightning fast.
Val: [Ooohh girl, dish!]
Elodie: [No, it's embarrassing.]
Val: [You've held my hair back more times than I can count in college. Embarrassing is out the window.]
Val: [Now spill! :P]
Elodie: [I had a steamy dream about Wesley.]
Val: [Who?!]
Elodie: [The guy whose name I got from the fortune teller lady...]
Val: [So I'm guessing you looked him up and he was a total babe?!]
Among other things.
Elodie: [I missed out, Val.]
Val: [Aw, don't worry, we'll talk later and clean up your online dating profile. Plenty of fish in the sea!]
Elodie: [I hope so.]
My most recent attempts at dating were nowhere close to finding anything like him.
I pushed open the doors to our office building and pushed the up button for the main elevators. I smiled politely to the guy who just walked in and was waiting for the elevator next to me.
"Thanks." He nodded cordially.
"No problem." I turned my attention back to my phone as I waited for the elevator bell to ding.
Elodie: [See you later, got to find out what Bethany wants.]
Val: [Stay strong!]

"That'll be all, thank you for stepping up on this major project."
I smiled, trying to remain cool. "Thank you for entrusting me with this."
"I'm happy to see you rising to your true potential, Elodie. Now I need to jump on this conference call - just close the door on your way out."
I nodded and complied with her instructions. I could hardly contain my excitement as I walked over to my office.
Val was seated expectantly at the chair across from my desk. I closed the door and turned the blinds, breaking instantly into a victory dance.
