Chasing Octavia

There at it again my mom cursing my father on the phone for not talking to me since the incident. Last summer My dad left my mom for his assistant Kristen, I haven't seen him much since he left her. I've gotten a birthday text last November but that's about it,
Well i definitely know who isn't winning father of the year.
My pondering came to an abrupt stop by the sound of knocking on my bedroom door.
"Come in" I called out
my mother walked in, 
"Hey honey, I just finished talking to your father on the phone and-d he won't be able to drive you on first day of school I know it's your guys little tradition, but he'd rather drive Kristens son" She scoffed
"it's okay mom I really didn't expect him to want to drive me, plus Riley's dad got her a car so she's going to drive us tomorrow"
"Well alright then I'll let you get some rest"
She placed her lips on my forehead wishing me goodnight.

  school really does start tomorrow junior year here I come, I really can't wait to see Riley,
Riley a blonde headed girl who's been by my hip since the 1st grade my best friend. She goes away every summer to see her dad and stepmom in California.
I looked to my right checking the time on my alarm clock reading 10:45
I wrapped my comforter around my body letting myself fall into peaceful slumber.

The sunlight beam awoke me making my eyes flutter open, "ugh I really need to get better curtains" I mumbled Swinging my legs over the ledge of the bed to get up, I raised my hands up leaning my back just a little feeling my muscles stretching. I walked to my closet picking some jeans and a flannel to change into
I walked downstairs jumping off the last three steps that where left something I've done ever since I was a kid
I grabbed my shoes walking towards the kitchen "hey mom"
"Good morning honey" she looked me up and down "my little girl is a junior soon you'll be getting married" I laughed while she tried to contain herself from crying "mom I'm 16" chuckled I sat down on the bar stool and shoved my foot into my high tops I jumped off as I'm cue I heard a honk i hugged my mother goodbye walking out the door the crisp smell of cut grass hitting me, I saw my blonde headed best friend in a fire red convertible Cooper
"oh my god Riley this is awesome" I gawked at the Cooper "get in were going to be late" she said while chuckling I climbed in and drove away
We arrived at school and walked towards our lockers
"So how was it"
Asking her how her summer went
"Awful I hate it you know we've never had a whole summer together Avia"
She sighed calling me by the nickname she gave me in the 3rd grade
"Yeah It sucks" I mumbled,
As we began walking I bowed my head looking down at my new shoes "ow" I felt my self bump into a wall making me fall on my butt I looked up to see Reign Mcalester.
"watch where the fuck you're going" I quickly pushed myself off of the floor. making the girl he had hooked around his arm give me a pierce full glare. Id grown to recognize that glare, Marci Stevens, they've have been on and off since freshmen year,
Reign is a year older than us making him a senior.
he'd been with almost every girl in Newport high school
the bell rang "ugh" looking to my left to see my best friends dreadful expression "what's your first period"
Riley asked
"I have history with Mr. Sanchez"
"Well alright I'll just meet you at our locker, good luck Avia" and with that she walked away.
"Thanks I'm gonna need it" I mumbled to myself 
I walked into the class taking a seat in one of the desks, class had already begun when Mr Sanchez Was interrupted mid lesson "well well glad you could finally join us Mr Mcalester"
"yeah it's my pleasure Mr S"
Causing the class to get in a fit of laughter "Sit in front of Octavia" he commanded with a stern face,
I looked up through my lashes to face Reign. Only to see he was already staring down at me, he walked to the desk in front of me and sat down only for him to turn his body to face me "You're the girl who bumped into me this morning" stunned by the way he remembered the events he bumped into me
"no I'm pretty sure you bumped into me"he chuckled turning his smile into a smirk "whatever next time watch where you're going instead of looking at your fucken shoes"
before I could say anything else the bell rang.
I spotted Riley in the hall way and i ran towards her "hey" I spat out of breath
"Octavia there's a party tonight and we're going"
I began to laugh
"Riley I'm not going to that" i huffed
"Avia you have to get your head out of those books sometimes come on don't be such a prune let's just go for 30 minutes and if you don't like it, then we can leave" she begged while walking to our lunch table
"Even if I said yes, I don't have anything to wear"
"no need to worry little one that's why you have an amazing best friend who will gladly let you borrow a dress"
"Fine I'll go"
I said in defeat.
